No more weights for me.
I have been thinking about a dynamic weight or tension system to be able to adjust how much pull I’m getting throughout my hanging sets. Some times I could reach fatigue. Some times I’d need more weight. Then sometimes, when I apply my weights for my first set of the day, it was almost too much. I had a couple different ideas and finally I realized what I wanted was a system like a sailboat uses for adjusting its sails.
On a boat, you are constantly adjusting the sails in and out to match wind and course changes with lines through pulleys and locking them down with cleats. So I went down to my boat and grabbed the “boom vang” system I installed last year. A “Main sheet” system or even any cleat system would work. Basically a line/rope runs from the hanger attachment through the pulley and back to a place to tie it off or cleat it down.
So far after 4 sets, I love it. I can create the perfect tension at all times without stopping a set to remove weight as I fatigue. And if I feel I can handle more, I just pull the line a little tighter. Next I plan on adding a digital fish scale in the system so I can see how much “weight” I’m applying.
