Touching toes/changing angles while hanging. Shorter time same workout?

I got my wraps and hanger right (thanks base and Bib) and was able to handle 11lb on my 3rd set without failure even though I am only starting out. I was hanging straight down and bent down to pick something up and could feel many different stretching sensations on the way down due to the differing angles. I then started to touch my toes and rise up slowly and felt it was really working everything well. I then rested face down on the bed with my stomach at the edge and weight hanging down. My body was at about 30degrees with my feet on the ground, I could get the same angle of hang doing this as I could simply bending over but it felt totally different on the bed than bending down. Any idea why?

What I wonder is if you are touching toes you are getting more of a workout and could you handle more weight due to the fact that the different parts being stretched are not getting fully worked at once. i.e. if you can only handle 15lb for 15minutes before failure hanging straight down then you should be able to go longer (maybe 20mins) if you are touching toes since it is not 20mins total on just those particular ligs. If this is the case you could be more time efficient and still get the same workout as if you used lower weights for the same 20min sets. i.e. 2x20mins sets of 15lb may give the same strains/effect as 3x20mins sets of 10lb.

It is a simple matter of different structures being affected by stresses at different hanging angles. It is the basis of the divide and conquer strategy.

I always felt like I made more progress if I worked one set of structures at a time. IOW, I would hang at a particular angle until totally fatigued, and then switch to a backup angle to finish the day. Then, the next day, I would return to the primary angle and work it to total fatigue again. Each day, it seemed the time to fatigue was less. Then, when I reached the point that I simply could not hang at a particular angle anymore, I would change primary angles.

Example: I might hang BTC for two weeks straight. The first few days, I could hang all BTC. Then, as fatigue became too great, sometime during the day I would have to switch, usually to SO. Toward the end of the two weeks, the number of sets of BTC would be less and less as the time to total fatigue became sooner. Then, when I just could not start the day BTC, I would switch the primary angle to SO, which had been my secondary angle. I would choose a different secondary angle such as OTS at that time. After a few days, I would return to BTC, to see if enough healing had occured to continue.

My thought was to work on a set of structures to failure. That the weakened tissues would be easier to manipulate during a time period. I kept working a specific set of structures in the weakened state as long as possible, knowing that when they healed completely, they would be stronger, and harder to manipulate.

The above was just me, and it worked very well. Your way might be better. If you continue, it will be interesting to see your results in the long term. Keep us updated.
