ANY Suck and Release Pumps Out There Besides CTC?

123

mr jones,

well good luck getting a pump that runs at 1600 rpm to pulse. We can get our pumps to pulse because they run at a slow speed. And as far as a pump with a DC motor the life of that type of motor is around 300 hours before parts will go out plus you will need a convert to use at home.

Interesting thread

Has anyone here used the Mr Fantastic? That looks like the right idea and the price is better but 350 still seems high and it’s not US based.

So far I like xaxxats’s idea of just using a pulsator - I already have a constant vacuum source via GAST pump. However, a programmable option is even better, especially if you can change the program up over time automatically. I haven’t seen anything like that for a low enough price for me to purchase it. Mr Fantastic looks like the right idea.

I use a Mr Fantastic water pump and find it works great. Its heart is a programmable vacuum gauge/ switch that you set max and min vacuum levels. The cycle time is determined by the pump speed (which you manually adjust) and a leak valve whereby you adjust the rate of vacuum leak. The pump works until the max vac is reached and then switches off and then comes back on when the vac declines to the min setting. The benefit of this is you can get fairly long (eg 1 - 2 min) cycle times which I believe are better for PE exercises.

Have no experience of pulsators but I assume they work with shorter cycle time?

Austfred - I found a pulsator on ebay for 25 dollars so thats worth a shot. The suck/release is where it’s at. Static pressure is okay but really the gains are in the cyclical pressures IMO. I like the Mr Fantastic idea but sure is expensive. How was delivery times, etc? I understand they’re in Italy.

Yes I first got into it after reading HomerJS ‘s cyclic stretching thread. Found it gave me girth gains and better EQ. Been a convert ever since. I started out using a manual pump but then moved onto a Mr Fantastic air pump and most recently his water pump. The water pump has allowed me to try out longer sessions (60 mins).

I understand he hand makes them so you should check with him on how long it would take to get one to you. Actual delivery is by UPS Air which does not take that long. I found him reliable and he has provided great after sales support.

Can you explain exactly what the pulsator does? I do not know anything about them.

Fred

It’s basically a suck/release mechanism used in farming - it’s one of the main components of a milker used to milk cows, goats, etc. I’m no expert on them but essentially that’s it - connect it to a vacuum source and it cycles the pressure off and on.

milkrite | InterPuls - Home is a mfg site you can probably read more about them.

Hi Boogie

Thanks for filling me in,

Is the one you bought like this?

I noticed it has an adjustable speed from 50 to 180 ppm (I assume ppm means pulses or cycles per minute) and a pulsation rate: 60/40 Adjustable ( I assume that is the proportion of the time it is sucking / blowing).

Certainly an economical way of dynamic pumping but as I wrote earlier I believe you will get better results if you can slow the pulse rate down to 1 ppm or slower. Rootsnatty suggested a high cycle rate causes elastic stretching which may be counter productive and in the long run toughen rather than stretch tissues.
