Cock and Ball Tube with pump

I have been trying to make a package pump for a long time (over 6 months). Here are pictures of a tube I made with stuff from Wally World (Wal-mart).

List:

Acrylic Jar $10.00 (I think it was more like $8)
Aquarium one way valve $ 2.50
fluid transfer pump $18.00 (get a pump with gauge)
toilet plunger $3.00 (it’s black and when you look at it from the bottom it has a round ring of rubber in it)

Where to find in Wal-mart:

Acrylic jar — kitchen supplies near drinking glasses
Aquarium valve — fish supplies
fluid transfer pump — boating supplies (sporting goods)
toilet plunger — near electrical supplies (I got mine from Fred’s)

Tools:

Dremel (or cheap knock off $20)
drill with bit the same size as the aquarium valve end
Box cutter

Process:

Safety First put on something to protect your eyes (hot acrylic is bad for your eyes)
1. Mark a 3 inch circle on the bottom of the jar.
2. Cut the circle out leaving you with a 3 inch hole
3. Mark a hole on either the left or right side of the “jar lock” and drill it out
4. Using a box cutter cut the ring of rubber out
5. Smooth out edges of the hole in the jar and the rubber ring(gasket)
6. Insert the rubber ring onto the hole like in the picture.

I have not used it, but I have pressed it against my stomach and pulled a vacuum and it worked.

Sounds interesting, can’t wait for a picture, would that fluid transfer pump be just like a Mitty vac pump? And would it work same way? Tried to find it on walmart.com couldn’t find it.

blackhawk4206, the fluid transfer pump looks just like those brass pumps that pumpers use, a Mity Vac would be preferable since you are pumping up the family jewels.

some of the pic might be blurry.

That pump is cheaper though and I am trying to go the cheap way for now, would it work otherwise, has a gauge with Hg on it doesn’t it?

Unless I am missing something, I don’t think you have shown the entire assembly with that plunger gasket installed. I am guessing that goes at the base of the tube? And can you show a shot of the flexible tube connecting to the valve. It is hard to make that valve out.

Oh god, you would save yourself a lot of trouble going to the pet store and buying a gravel cleaner for around $12
