Finally got my pump. Happy and PISSED OFF!!

So I order my pump and cylinder from LAPDIST.com about 2 weeks ago. I got home from work last Friday, they had tried to deliver it, but couldnt. Why not? Because no one was in and there was a fee that needed paying. They left a note saying they’d redeliver Tuesday (today)

So then, today comes, the parcel delivery guy arrives. I had to pay £26.95 for it!

Damn I’m pissed off! I paid $130 for this, and a further £35 for shipping. Then when it arrives. I have to pay a further $48!!!!!!! (£26.95=£48.11)

I’ve emailed LapDist and am awaiting a reply.

Also the display of the pump is slightly damaged. The HG guage thing is slightly bent inside, but its no big deal….

Anyway enough of that, had my first session with the new equipment, and all went well! I’m following the routine suggested by Avocet8 in the Pumping 101 thread.

Pumping rules! LOL

Congrats on the new tube, Cletus! I’ve had mine since the mid-90’s: they’re almost indestructable with normal use. Been through five different pumps, though.

Then how come you are on number five? Fixing car tires or what?

Pumps, mgus, not cylinders!

Had a bulb pump, maybe two, can’t really remember now: not that great. Went to a metal “trigger style” pump, broke the handle. Had a brass “plunger” style: probably wrecked the seals with petroleum jelly. The handle broke first though. The MityVac was gone within minutes.

My thickwall acrylic tube is eight years old and still going strong!

My Mityvac is almost indestructible, how did you destroy that?

LA Pump makes a very high quality pump but the guages are total shit. I’ve had the internal pressure of the cylinder cause the tin guage to bend several times. I’m now on my second one and am going to get a higher quality guage from someone else and just put it on myself.. The actual pump part is very good from what I can tell.

Let us know about the reply from lapdist.

I am also gonna order a pump from them and dont want to pay extra either…

I, can, I can, I can not, can not compute..

Same thing happened to me when I ordered a cylinder from Lapdist. I had to drive down to the sorting office and pay a customs charge.
I don’t blame lapdist or the post office though.

Funny thing is I order lots of stuff from the US and I have never had a customs charge for anything else.

If you want to replace your gauge, look here:

and pick the first one. $9 or so I think.

Honestly guys, I’m not sure: this was quite a few years ago.

It might have been a cheap Chinese knock-off, it might have been returned to the shop & re-packaged, I’m really not sure. A MityVac is about $80.00 retail up here, so I’ve just been using the bare tube: it’s worked fine so far…

Same here. The charge was a customs fee and a handling fee. Kind of shit when I already paid $35 for postage, that I have to pay a further $48…..

Sadly, no on both counts. I really liked the brass plunger, though.
