hello all, alternative to LA pumps for cost effective pump?

hello all, alternative to LA pumps for cost effective pump?

I’m not very well off and the price of the LA pump i could afford but would be willing to look at other cost effective pumps.

Anyone know of a cheaper, good quality pump and tube like LA pumps limited?

I need something that will fit my size good, which a hommade pump probably wouldnt satisfy.

Thanks

I like their tubes and so don’t have a solution for that but the MitiVac from any autoparts place is really a nice hand pump.

It's better to think you're doing something than to sit back and wonder what might have been Start: 12/2003 EBPL: 7 15/16 EG: 5 1/4 Now: 12/2004 EBPL: 8 1/2 EG: 5 5/8 (pumped is 5 7/8 mid, 6.25 base) FL: 6.25

I have a Dr. Joel Kaplan Pump and its great. When I got it, it was $75. Ive never used a LA pump, but I hear they’re great. Personnally, I dont see why anyone buy one ,though, because of the cheaper alternatives. I definitely recommend looking into Kaplan.

Sweet, thanks for the replies.

MrPP,

Does the multivac you speak of have a good gauge that would read similiar to LA pumps gauge? I just might have to buy that and get the cylinder at LA pumps.

Wouldnt that be the shits if LA pumps buy those cylinders out of some sort of jar factory for like 2 bucks and piece and then sell them to us for 60 bucks, lol, that would be a kick in the balls.

In the long run, I think you will save by just buying the brass pump with gauge and 1.75 cylinder from lapdist. The components will work together right out of the box and the quality is excellent.

I agree with gprent’s point on all the stuff working together as you’d have to get the fitting for tube from an aquarium shop - this would be the male coupling that would go on the nylon tube to the Mitivac. I messed up and order the LAPump kit without the gauge. Later on, after I got the Mitivac with its gauge I hooked up the lapump to see what I was pulling and I was casually getting up to 20HG…nice hard stretch and an excellent donut too BTW…

crashdummie: yes, the gauge on the mitivac is good, solid…it’s used for brake line bleeding and vacuum checking on autos. 0 - 35hg, very readable.

Thanks again guys, your loads of help and i wouldnt have a clue other wise:)

I am just going to get the whole kit, minus the video, from LA pumps.
