I understand a cockring would keep what I've already gained and therefore less pressure would be needed the nest session…correct?Maybe I'll eventually reach the point that entering the tube will be a nice snug fit and I'll be able to use only 1-2 ” pressure like RWG's doing.

There are guys here at Thunder’s who think red spots are only stress indicators and are even desireable. They are stress indicators, but I don’t agree they are desireable. To me they show one is doing too much of something, either too much time spent in the cylinder or too much pressure, or some manual exercise also being used is too intense.
Cock rings during pumping can give more girth expansion during that particular session. Not necessary to use one every time, imo. RWG is using a shaft ring for sex. A lot of us do, either every time or now and then. Braker said not long ago that he uses one now every time he fucks because he loves the look of it and his partners love the feel of it.
It’s not necessary to pack a cylinder as soon as you enter it. If you’re seeing gradual expansion over time, gradually you try to build enough permanent girth to pack consistently, then graduate to a larger cylinder.
You’re only three weeks into this. Don’t expect miracles. :-)
