my first pump

mommender i think thats how you spell it sence i have the same pump as you this is addressed to you on my gauge the needle does not sit on zero but on big notch above it which i am geussing is 1 now there are 3 of those notches to get to five the 3’d notch being on the 5 so sence my pump sit on 1 hg before pumping im guessing that is 2 hg at 5 .today when i pumped i went up 1 big notch above the 5 on the side which does not seem to be 5 hg because if my needle sat on zero like it should the 5 would be 3 hg which meens that i have to go 1 notch above the 5 to get to 3 hg does that sound right to you?

well any how i pumped at what i thought was 3 hg for 10 min. and liked it very much i wanted to go longer cause it felt good but i know that would have been an mistake. well i hope my gauge is fine and that your is the same way.

Stay low on your gauge. You’ll get better long-term results.

Thats the plan

Jelq4Life;

Yes, the numbers on the out side of the gauge is what you want to go buy. I know what it says on the L.A. Pumps web site and its wrong. If you look at your gauge you will see that its HG and not PSI. Do like avocet says and stay low and you will be fine.

At first you are not going to see the type of pump that I and others that have been pumping for a bit see. After about your first and second month when you start adding more sessions, then the pump will become more evident!

Glad you like it! And I bet you will be hooked on it just like the rest of the SMART PUMPERS. Just remember to keep a firm discipline to routine and don’t go over board.

Pump gauge etcetera

Hi Jelq4life !

Yes! I bought a trigger pump with a gauge; here in the U.K. we are a bit limited for availability of quality gear ! I bought mine from Dash-UK.com; all their pumps are either rubber ball type w/o gauge, or plastic trigger type, gauge optional. I have tried to run down a UK distributor that MityVac suggested/ supplier here for the Mity Vac pump everybody raves about, but so far I cant rouse them. Maybe theyr’e all watching the football !

Anyway, my gauge is pretty useless; like yours it starts away from the calibration zero and stop, so I don’t know how accurate it is, also the scale is too cramped for serious measuring, BUT it does give me a clue as to how hard I’m pumping, whicvh I suppose is the main thing. We aren’t dealing in absolute units here (as my engineering training dictates for me!), but just to get an idea of how high to go before quitting. Also, I find that with a bit more experience than when I started, I can pretty well FEEL what the pressure is doing so I tend to use the gauge just to remind me when I need to pump another part stroke (or more!), to maintain the vacuum. It’s surprising how, sometimes the “pressure” will drop away without you quite realising that it’s gone! But I’m taking the good advice given here, and erring on the LOW pressure side, and I find that’s doing something useful for me. I’m not looking for spectacular results !

Hope this helps ?
Modest.

modemmer

is your gauge anything like mine?

is the 5 on the gauge supossed to be 5 hg cause i pumped 1 past it and thats ware it felt like it was workering at.

on mine 5 on the gauge is like 2 hg or i think, from the zero to the 5 there are 3 of the big notches but from the 5 to the 10 there are 5 notches like there should be whats up with that?

I REALLY! want to know what hg i am pumping at.

Jelq4Life

Hey J4L,

I just checked my gauge and the hg scale goes from 0 to 30 and is the outside scale. The PSI or kPa scale should go much higher than that. Use the outside numbers and don’t go back what it feels like when you first pump up, you can take a lot of vacuum at first. After awhile though it start to do damge if you get crazy with the vacuum. You don’t want to “feel” like it is doing something immediately and base your pumping on that. Better to stay a little low and a lot safe.

You’ll get the “pump” of it after awhile.

Mine goes up to 30 psi on the outer ring and 760 hg on the inner. At least, that’s the way it appears. Hope that helps. (I never had to take physics in high school). I operate from around “5” on mine and pay more attention to what things feel like than mercury or lbs per square inch.

Jelq4Life;

The 5 on the outer part of the gauge is 5 HG. Stay under that and you will be fine. Like Thunder said at first you will not feel anything, but after a few sessions you will notice the pressure and the pump will be on! You can hert yourself real easy with the pump, just stay under 5 ok!

Modemmer.

Ok what one is it… Mine goes from 0 to 30 on the outer, and from 0 to 760 on the inner part. I thought the 0 to 30 was the HG and the inner part PSI. That being said 100 PSI is equal to 4 HG?

Modemmer.

modemmer

well mine does not start at zero but at 1 so the 5 would be four does that make sence to yall.

modemmer go back and read my post the one above this one and tell me what you make of the bottom part of the post

Jelq4Life

The outer scale is the hg guys.

I think the inner scale, the higher number, would probably be kPa not PSI. The construction of these scales is not such that it would survive 760 PSI much less 760 hg. It would turn into shrapnel far before it reached those numbers.

Ok… thanks Thunder!

Jelq4Life…

I also don’t have a 0, 1, or 2. The first two marks before five would be 3 and 4. 5 is 5 HG not 4! So when you have the needle on 5 then thats 5 HG.

Modemmer.

well sence i cant be sure what hg im pumping at am going to take it apart and move the needle to zero.
