I have never seen a break like that before, but here is a video on how to rebuild the same pump with a rebuild kit. If this doesn’t work, or is too much to handle, buy a new brake bleeder vacuum pump from harborfreight.com for 25 bucks.

After looking at the video Gprent posted it looks as if the shaft in yours may have simply unscrewed from the piston. Hopefully an easy fix.
I say buy another one in case the one you’re trying to repair breaks again.
When in doubt check Ace Hardware or Harbor freight.
I hope you come right, I know what it feels like not having a pump around when you definitely want to pump. See if GPrent’s advice works else buy a new one mate it will be well worth it.
I always have two pumps in case one breaks.

Sorry about that, I went and found a link from awhile ago that I was about to find a replacement “brake bleeder” from harbour freight.
I felt that HG pressure is different from the original to the new pump, just going by feel which feels about 5HG..
But I come here and creep from time to time to find answers and read up on any new pumping techniques and other’s success
