Pump size

I can’t post in the pumpers forum so I was wondering if someone can help me out with a question regarding pump size.

I have a magnum pump with a gauge (purchased along time ago), now the cylinder itself is about 2 to 2.5in in diameter.

I don’t have much girth 4.5in EG so does this mean that this pump will not work properly on me as it’s just too big?

Should I be changing to a pump of perhaps 1.5in or 1.75inch in diameter?

Also I have the magnum pump, I think it is a good pump!if you use the latex the diameter became a little less,
For the result I think that are the same!!

However my girt is 5,4.

Those cylinders with the rubber sleeve are pretty cheap, and once the sleeve deteriorates, you are screwed. Does your cylinder have a quick disconnect where the hose attaches? If so, you would be much better off buying a quality 1.75 inch cylinder that doesn’t require a rubber sleeve to make a good seal. LA Dist has good quality cylinders and if you are serious about pumping, you should invest in one.

Being from the land down under, I cannot find any pumps that are 1.75in in diameter.
The shops usually only sell 2in or 2.5in cylinders.
So with my small EG of 4.5in is it worth buying a 2in cylinder or will it just be a waste of money/time?

Go to a pet store and buy an aquarium gravel filter/cleaner. You can hook it up to your hand pump. They are usually 1.75” diameter. This should give you a good idea of fit. I just recently found a really fancy/expensive one that is 2” diameter that you can try for size too. It is a much cheaper way to try to find a size that fits you right.

The edges may be a little rough, nothing that a little sand paper or scrubber sponge can’t fix though.
