Squeaky Pump

My Mity Vac II pump (the all plastic one that sells for about $25 at AutoZone) is now making a squeaking noise when I squeeze the trigger as I pump up. I’m presuming it must be some sort of inner seal that is making the noise. Anyone else experience this? Is it fixable?

I’m experiencing the same thing with mine, though I’ve not tried to fix it.

You can buy new parts for this pump from some auto parts dealers on line. Unfortunatly, I have lost the address. When I ahd problems like this I purchased an all steel pump that cost me around $65.00. I found that once I ahd done I did not have any more problems.

I’ve had problems with three MityVac plastic pump/gauges over the past 4 years. Each time either the plastic handle cracked or the connecting fitting near the exit point of the handle cracked.

Next time I’m purchasing a metal pump/gauge. But for now, I’ll go back to my usual mouth power to create the vacuum.

The Mity Vac manual recommends that the seal be lubed with a silicone based lubricant. Either a DOT 5 silicone brake fluid (not DOT 3) or a vegeatable based oil is recommended. Do not use a petroleum based lubed as it will eat up the seal.
