Thickwall vs Flaired bottom tubes?

Hey guys,

I’ve been searching around in the archives for more info regarding which tubes have gave better results, the thickwall cylinders or the flaired cylinders. I now use both my old friend 1 3/4” x 10 LA pump cylinder (which I’ve always liked alot) and a homemade 2” gravel clearner from Pet Smart.

Thing is, it’s time to get serious about buying a new 2” tube. Just wondering if the thickwall tubes seem to actually give better length pull over the other tubes out there and do/would they dig in to the groin. I’ve read all the ads at the different sites and kinda torn between LA pump, Velseal tubes at pumptoys, and Vacutech (thickwall).

Any actual user comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
ineed9

I had a flared 2” tube from NorthWest pump works that I used for a while a couple of years ago. They did a nice job of flaring, so I never had a problem with pinching, and the flare at the bottom kept my balls from getting sucked in, and also acted as a cockring to keep the blood in the penis when I dropped the pressure. All in all, I was happy with the product.

I was pumping at too high a pressure (didn’t know then what I know now, thanks to Thunders), and I didn’t like the fluid retention and donut that I got at times. Someday I may venture back to pumping, who nows.

p-pal,

Thanks much for your comments. It’s interesting what you said about the bottom acting as a cockring and keeping the vacuum/blood when pressure is dropped. Didn’t know they would do that. It’s also a nice touch regarding keeping your balls out of the tube as well. I sometimes get my nuts sucked into my 1.75” but really don’t find it a problem.

Question, did you have any trouble coming out of the tube when you were ready to? I mean, if it holds the blood in the unit when pressure is released can you still come out ok? Just wondering about that. I’m trying to get some more length pull and that’s why I’m asking questions. The only tube I’ve used is the LA pump and gravel cleaner which has a straight wall inside.

Thanks again,
ineed9

As long as I had some lube around the base of my cock, I did not have any problem. The fitting that they have on the end for the vacuum has a one way valve in it, and I would just unscrew it a little (it was easier than trying to depress the release pin inside the fitting - they may have changed this by now). Once the vacuum was gone, off it came with no big effort.

This also meant you could disconnect from the pump and walk around more easily, then connect back up when you needed to up the vacuum.

The feel of the tube on my cock with the “ring” effect at the base was a good one.

Shaving around the base of my cock, and the lube seem to do the trick.

With the vacuum (excessive at the time I was using this), things looked real impressive (combination of the magnification of the tube and the fact that the tube would basically squeeze it down the shaft to where the fat pad was compressed (kind of a Bone Pressed view).

Some of the measurements that I got during the pumping were up in the 7.75 x 6, so I definetly received some length stretching when using this.

Someday I’ll have the size from PE that I used to see in the tube, and I’ll go on a maintenance plan.

Just remembering this makes me want to get another one before long.

I know what you mean, it can get quite impressive in the tube. I like pumping now that I’m actually starting to see some change lingering from one session to another, pretty exciting! Yes, I too use a good bit of lube so it sounds like the flared tube would not be a problem to use at all.

Also, I like the fact that it holds the pressure for you if you want to disconnect for a bit and it hangs on well. That bone-pressed view also is good, seems this type tube would give you a real donky dick after some months of use which does seem rather cool.

I’m still deciding on which way to go here but I think I’m leaning more toward the flared tube. I wonder some about a straightwall digging in to my groin and becoming uncomfortable after a few sets.

Sounds like you were happy with the results from your tube. There are many to chose from and laying down anywhere from $60-$100 for a tube, I’m just trying to narrow down the field. Thanks for the help, all great info!

Maybe you can clear this up for me, ineed9. It’s my impression that there are two kinds of flared cylinders. The L.A. cylinders appear to have the same diameter throughout their length, so that the “flare” is really an outward-only flare at the opening. So the diameter at the opening is the same as the diameter of the main body of the tube.

But others, NW included, I think, produce the flare by constricting the opening to a smaller diameter than the rest of the tube. So it’s flared inward, and the opening of a nominal 2” tube is actually smaller than that. If that’s correct, it would explain p-pal’s cockring analogy.

If this is true, the question remains - which type is best?

ChuckR,

You’re right on the money about the tubes and that’s what I’ve been wondering, which one is better and why. My LA tube has the same ID from botton to top with a flare on the outside bottom edge (opening) and that’s what I’m use to. I think the NW tubes, if I’m not mistaken, have a 1/4” inward taper just at the bottom. Maybe p-pal could correct me if I’m wrong on that.

The Vacutech flared tubes have that 1/4” difference at the bottom and I think I might like the 2” flared with a 1 3/4” opening. At this point in my size I can pack my 1 3/4” just about fully and I also do some “milking the tube” during sets. But I wonder how this would work out milking the tube using a flared tube for this. Does anyone else do this as well?

My question is, if I’m packing my 1 3/4” now and go with a, say, Vacutech flared bottom tube then would the bottom ID become to small later on as I increase in more base girth? I made need to go ahead and move up to a dedicated 2” like my LA tube but not sure If I actually have enough base girth at present to warrent getting one.

Anyway, I seem to like the idea of inward flared tubes but hoping thickwall users will chime in with their thoughts.

PS, p-pal gave some good explanations about his flared tube and results from it. It sounds good, but still a little undecided.

I can olny give you the “thick walled” experience.

I had reservations like you before investing and decide to go with the thick walled tube. My worries were vaccum retention as a newbie and comfort. But once it arrived, right from the first session it felt great.

Some observations as a more seasoned pumper:

Thick walled stays nice and warm once heated with heat pad (due to thick matrial used) and stays that way for a while at the end of my session after pad has been removed so that I can view results.

It has some weight and sometimes I will hang the package down, unsupported other than vaccum, from my chair and it can give a nice pull.

Never suck a ballock in and I was narrow and tight sacked at around 4.95-5 girth and choose a 1.75 tube.

It’s comfortable, can bite a little on the base at higher pressure but all in all very comfortable.

Hope this helps with your decision.

Thanks Andrew, for your comments. It seems there’s a lot of good points to both types of tubes. The ability to hold heat longer plus the added weight of the tube makes me think, as you say, gives a nice stretch while heated (and hanging downward) thus helping much with lig stretch.

Since the thick wall tubes have been marketed as a mainly ‘gain length tube’, have you noticed any difference in length since you’ve been using it?
Thanks too for the info regarding the bite at higher hg levels. That’s good to be aware of.

Hey, just for fun, the other night I watched a pumping video of Scott Taylor.. I think he’s a porn star but anyway I’ve have that tape for years and haven’t watched it in forever but I thought I’d see what kind of tube he was using.

It was a straight/thickwall and must be at least 10-12” long tube. Toward the end of the tape he practically packed the whole thing from end to end.
He said somthing about he likes that tube and showed a bigger one in comparison, his next tube jump. Said he’s been pumping about 5 yrs, 2-3 times per week and up to 2 hr sessions. Appears he’s another happy thickwall user as well.

Thanks for the help.. good info.

Hello again ineed9,

I’ll try and answer your questions.

I have noticed length gains while in the tube. When I first started I was around 7.0 to 7.25’ depending on how things felt down there, sometimes good sessions sometimes not. I am now consistently 7.5 (in tube) but it’s been slow going for me. I haven’t measured outside the tube for a long time as I feel if I’m getting in tube gains then the outside gains must follow. Girth has been the most noticeable change both in and out of the tube which has been well received by my wife 8-)

BTW my tube has a nice ruler sticker which I think is a terrific thing and should be standard issue on tubes.

I read in another post that you were wondering about avoiding fluid build up and though my experience on this may be of interest. Others may have more to say but I have found that most times (right now for example) I pump with the heat pad on, mighty vac and gauge constantly attached and the tube resting UP against the desk. I never seem to get fluid build up even after 20min at 6’hg. As soon as I lower the tube down to 90 deg or less fluid builds up behind the glans even after shorter sessions.

Regards
Andrew

Yes, hello again Andrew,

It’s good to hear you’ve made some length gains from pumping. I am trying also to get some. I mainly see only girth gains and any length is just not coming or coming very slowly.

Since the thickwall tube has no restriction at the botton I now think more length can be obtained from it and more length would be great!
What tube is it you use? I think Boston Pump has the ruler on the side but would be interested to know where you got yours.

Thanks for the tip about fluid buildup. I will try keeping my tube higher up than the normal 90* to see if it helps. I’ve only been pumping regular for 3 months and don’t think I’ve cemented much yet. More pumping and jelking will be required for many months, I guess, to cement any gains.

Thanks for your info, again.

G’day again mate.

My tube is a Boston and was kindly purchased and posted (contra arrangement) to me by a Thunders member in the good old US of A and I am very greatful to him.

I have looked on occasion (web surf only) for suppliers of that product here in Australia with no luck. I dropped it once and smashed the connect on the tube…very sad day…but I got my tools out and fixed it with some micro drilling and a new screw to hold things in place and it works. Still should order a new coupling though.

Anyway keep at it with plenty of jelq time and lost of heat.

Andrew

Hey, thanks again Andrew,

There is no doubt some really great members here at Thunders!! I’ve learned more than I ever thought possible. Ok, I recently looked at Boston Pump at there 2x9” thickwall tube and the price is good.

Sorry your quick disconnect went smash but are easily replaced and cheap!
I’m using tons of heat and lots of jelking when time permits, usually around 20 min during my regular pump sessions. I’m also going to increase session time from 50 min to 1 hour in about 2 weeks.

Definately getting bigger from all this pumping (grin) and can’t wait for more gains! Appreciate you letting me know about your tube and that you like it.
Sounds like a winner!

These are almost exactly the same results I have with a thick wall, I’m quite happy with it, also have the 1.75” tube and I’m beggining to pack it entirely with a 5” girth cock.
It does however definately “bite” on the base / pubic bone with some high pressures, hence me trying to look up a flared tube (although I think I’d prefer a standard width flared tube, not one that comes in at the base)

Although I dont have any experience with a true thick walled tube, I would reccommend one anyways.

I ended up getting a flared tube, but hated the feeling of a flared tube so much that I actually shaved away the flaring to get it as close to the tube as possible. Now it’s kind of like a thick wall in design, but quite a bit thinner. The “bite” doesn’t bother me as I’ve gotten use to it and that’s while using the thin walled tube. I’m sure a thick walled tube would be much more forgiving.
