What would you change about your pump?

That’s actually quite ironic considering your posts in my last thread. You dropped out of nowhere and started suggesting routines and talking about things completely unrelated to what I was asking for.

In your last thread all you did was shoot everyones ideas and suggestions down.
So in that regard we are both at fault.

Got it, no more sleep deprived posting.
I get pretty snappy when i get insomnia.

Head on over to actron.com and have a look at their CP7830 Hand Vacuum Pump . It looks a lot like the harbor freight one, very very similar anyway. Actron sells spare parts for their version, including a complete vacuum gauge assembly for only $5.65 USD! That is the cheapest suitable vacuum gauge I can find anywhere, but please inform me if I’m wrong and you find one cheaper. Measures a range of 0 through to 30 inches Hg. For people outside of the USA, I am not sure if they will ship items overseas though, so you’ll need to check first if you need to.

Why?

Have a look into modifying a Rena brand aquarium air pump. For many of their models, it is mindlessly simple to convert it into a vacuum pump, and since it is electric you will not need to manually pump by hand or foot either! And for the popularly modified models (Rena 300?), you’ll be pleased to know that most people report it pumps at exactly the correct vacuum rating for our particular interests! ;)

That was my 69th post! (snicker!) :D

Mch,
Thank you very much for contributing to my thread which I had almost forgotten about. I might have to check out their gauge for under $6, but I have seen the same pump fir about fifteen dollars cheaper. I wish I could remember where though.

Can you elaborate a little more on the electric pump to vacuum conversion? I am very intrigued.

Btw your pic would go great with the caption “That’s one big Twinkie”.

You’re welcome! Please make your cheque payable to “mch”! :D

Yes! You saw the “very similar” pump at Harbor Freight that I had already hinted at in my preceding post, it sells for some $25 cheaper I think! However, what Harbor Freight do not have is the spare parts as does the Actron website. You can not buy the vacuum gauge alone from Harbor Freight or any other spare parts for their version. Although these Actron gauges are a very small gauge the size is adequate for our purposes, and I still can not find a better price than $5.65 USD anywhere for any other suitable vacuum gauge. Please clearly understand that I was not recommending the Actron pump above the Harbor Freight pump, just identifying the cheapest gauge I could find. If I was buying the whole hand pump, I’d likely go with the Harbour Freight since lots of people have recommended it, both that and I’m just a cheap bastard too!

Sorry “TheGreatDivider”, but I can not tell you the details or specifics of the “Rena” aquarium air pump conversion since I have never done it myself. Try as I may, I have been completely unable to find any Rena aquarium products whatsoever in the stores in my corner of the world… and I am the sort of person who is extremely reluctant to buy any stuff off the Internet! So, I have never done this conversion. However I did discover that for the DIY type person who wants to make their own “pumping” equipment, the aquarium section at most pet shops have almost everything you need, much more so than any hardware store I’d dare suggest!

Have done a lot of reading about this conversion in the past though, and most people have commented how they found it startlingly easy to convert these Rena Aquarium Air Pumps to draw a vacuum rather than blow air as originally intended. You will need to do your own reading first of course to see if it is right for you! Going from memory which might be a little rusty, it has typically been the Rena 200 (or Rena 300?) model that has been converted into a vacuum pump. When the case of the Rena is opened, it is possible to lift the small rubber diaphragm to get access to a small disk with one way air valve(s) in it. By flipping, turning or reversing this air valve disk, the direction of air flow is reversed from the usual blow to suck. Many people who did the conversion found that the vacuum produced was almost exactly the often recommended pressure of around 5 inch Hg too! I might have remembered some of that wrong but it is apparently a very simple modification for most people, and one guy who said he’d never even used a screwdriver before had successfully done it.

Much has been said about this conversion over at newart forums, however I no longer recommend people to go there anymore. Fairly sure this has been mentioned briefly here at thunders before… searching, I’ll get back to you…

LOL! Thanks for that comment. Laughed so hard, three drops of pee came out!

Some people here just have the greatest avatars. Took me a long time to find an avatar I would be happy with, then saw this pic! It’s pretty good but not great, I may change it from time to time. Sadly, shrinking the image down to 100x100 lost some of the impact of Ray’s expression of surprise! The eagle eyed will also notice that I reversed the image left to right to make it appear that Ray is looking at my post.

How’s your search for an avatar going?

Wow, I must have been hanging out at "that other place" (cough, *newart*, cough!) way too much because I just noticed there is very little posted here about the Aquarium air pump conversions. However I did find one really good thread on this right here:

DIY Electric Pump—-

Check out the excellent post by "redbear" at the top of the second page in which he details everything you really need to know and also includes some great photos to illustrate it all too!

Someone did once mention a particular Rena model that already has a vacuum connection on it. It might have been "redbear", can’t remember which model though, sorry!

Stores near where I live, the most commonly available cheap Aquarium air pumps are made by a brand called "MasterPet" (aka "VitaPet"). I have personally pulled apart both the single and the double outlet versions of both the obsoleted old models (white case) and the current new models (black case). Anyone interested in these models to convert to vacuum pumps would be well advised to steer well clear of them. Of the the two, the old obsoleted model (white case) would be more easy to convert. Both old and new types would require significant reworking including drilling, gluing, installing of extra air tubing, and in the case of the new model probably some additional gasket required too. Overall, just not worth the effort!

Thank you mch for elaborating on how to make an electric air vacuum pump from an aquarium air pump. O could really see doing this myself except I would like to be able to attach an electric pressure gauge and an electronic brain to keep the pressure at the desired amount and shut it off when reached.

I have several other projects I have been working on with my week off from PE first if which is a simple water trap made from parts from the aquarium section at the pet store. Except I would go with a better check valve from cpc rather than a cheap wedge check valve for fish tanks.

Then I just started a few says ago on my latest research over the chemical conversion path in the brain you get from arousal to erection to post orgasm. What’s is shocking is that it appears my theory about adrenal fatigue from PE was right. It has to do with an over abundance of adrenalin and pde 2 (inflammatory hormone) and a decrease of pde 1 (anti inflammaory hormone). I will write a thread dealing with this later on when I have more scholor google research on the subject.

I have found my perfect avatar at least for now but I can’t post it from my iPhone and I’m staying at a friends house who has three girls. I dont know about you but i don’t want to have to explain TP to a room full of women.

You could probably do this I guess, but an aquarium pump is a cheap low cost item, adding the rest of that stuff would probably blow out the costs way too much. Much more cost (and effort) than the aquarium pump is worth! Besides, for the commonly modified aquarium pump models, most people are getting vacuum pressure of around 5 inch Hg but I think you pretty much need to keep it running constantly to maintain that pressure. Shut it off and the vacuum would more than likely head back to zero.

A better idea with a cheap aquarium pump might be simply to add a light dimmer type control. That way the vacuum pressure could be varied at will anywhere between maximum and minimum. I have seen bare light dimmer circuits at the electrical store for cheap and which could probably be mounted directly inside the existing aquarium pump case if sufficient room. Pretty sure that would keep

I was looking for an electronic vacuum pressure gauge a while ago, but found nothing cost effective. As far as I could tell, all were really, really pricey!

Angled upward for those with a upward pointing erection.

I actually found one like this a few weeks ago but it was expensive. If you want I can try to find it again for you.

I know I have been thinking about what would make my cylinder a lot more comfortable. So far I imagine if i had a cylinder with a rigid but flexible rubber base, not unlike a bathmate, that I can wear comfortably tucked in loose clothing. That way I won’t stay glued to a freggin chair and can do some chores or something around the house discreetly.

Thinking further, I would like to modify a strapon harness so that I don’t have to hold the cylinder up whenever I have to stand up. Anyone with a flared cylinder knows how uncomfortable this can be.

I did this with 2 shoelaces. :p
