Nerve injury is possible in any body part, but nothing will make you take note more than when you penis goes numb. You did in fact injure the nerves to your head. That it is healing is a good sign.
When a nerve is injured to the point of damage, the nerve fibers (axons) within their covering sheath die backwards towards their cell body (where the nucleus and major control functions occur). This is known as Wallarian degeneration. The nerve cell body sprouts new nerve fibers that grow out the old coverings to reinnervate the affected area (your penis head). This is called Wallarian regeneration. The new fibers grow at a rate of about 1/4” per month. Depending upon how far it degenerates back up the pudendal nerve will determine how many months it will take to completely heal. The estimate of 8 - 18 months is not outlandish.
On some occasions, neighboring nerves may sprout branches to cover the innervation to the affected area. This may be what’s happening now.
You’ll find that as it heals, the area of numbness will get smaller and less noticeable. Then one day you’ll say, “Hey, it ain’t num no mo.” And you’ll be happy.
Man you either have sensitive nerves or you put your penis through a washer wringer, and/or both. A once injured nerve that completely repairs will be at least as sensitive as it was before. While it’s regrowing it is more. If I were you, I’d cease and desist all PE that puts any stress on this healing nerve. Erections, gentle masturbation and intercourse are probably ok.
Good luck. Keep us posted.
