Nerve damage vs. desensitization.

Nerve damage vs. desensitization.

Who is to know the difference? I know for one thing when I use a rough surface for masturbation, such as my hand or a relatively soft blanket I have, my glans loses feeling, but that is not nerve damage. However I have had numbness from rough stretching or intense stretching, which obviously is nerve damage.

But some people claim their loss of sensitivity as nerve damage. The medical community does not see why (nor myself) the nerves would not heal. The body HEALS! Unless you are malnutritioned in some nature or up into your 50’s, your body should working on fixing every arena of your body. That’s one of it’s jobs. I myself have noticed less sensitivity on my glans, and blamed it on extreme stretching (thumb on dorsal nerve), btu I notice using POND’S dry skin cream for a week on the glans and it has feeling back. So that obviously shows I’ve been desensitizing it too much.

Could it be some people are confusing nerve damage with rough masturbatory practices, and blaming PE, instead of their dry hands? If I’m not using lube (I prefer vaseline, ky jelly dries up during edging), my penis usually does have less sensitivity than if I were to use lubes.

Doctors state nerve damage SHOULD heal, unless lacerated, and even that has a chance of healing, it’s just time, patience, and isolation that is needed to heal it. Honestly why would a nerve not heal? Is there any argument as to why that would be? The only argument for that is if it’s completely detached, and I don’t see how you can detach a nerve yet keep the penis intact. So it clearly jsut means the nerves are either a. Being bruised by compression of the thumb, b. Stretching beyond it’s capacity to stretch and breaking some fibers within the nerve, or c. Both. In all other parts of the body nerves heal from these kinds of cases. And the penis is made to handle more abuse than any other body part. It’s made to rail another member of the human race, a urologist brought me to that insight. It’s meant to take the abuse, because thats what it basically does, sex is rough sport, and the penis can take a lot.

`Start: 5"NBPEL, 6"BPEL, 4.5"EG

`Current: 5"NBPEL, 6"BPEL, 4.5"EG

So far a few fractions of inch increase on base erect girth.

No one has anything to add? Not even those with long term nerve damage?

I think you are substantially correct, refresh9; otherwise said, we have read similar references. But Doc’s don’t know all about nerves. I had an inflamed intercostal nerve for years, and no Med has been capable of saying the cause of it, or how much it needed to heal.

Pretty sad isn’t it? That docs know so little about it.

The medical community does not see why the nerves would not heal? I’m pretty sure they do. And if you think eating well will allow nerves to heal, tell that to the next guy you see who is in a wheelchair.

I’ve got nerve damage on the back of my shoulder when I was a kid and it results in a paralysis of some of my muscles. It’s been like this for almost 20, it never seemed like it was healing and it never healed.

I agree with the idea that PE can cause nerve damage if done in an improper, intense and aggressive way. And I also think that if you do get nerve damage, well there’s a chance you will never heal.

What kind of injury you had, exactly, powpow?Lacerated nerve or what?

The cause is not exactly clear. It could have been a viral infection that resulted in this or just a trauma to this particular part of my shoulder/back.

The same that happened to me, powpow - they could not know the cause. So, it’s true that Doc’s dont know everything about nerves :) .

Well thats different than trauma if a viral infection destroyed the nerve’s function. But if something happened to your back, those don’t heal. But why would something not heal?

Hello!
My view is that it all depends on a lot of things. Generally asking “why would something not heal” will not produce very clear answers.
Nerve damage is very varied. It depends on the cause of the damage, the duration of the disease, the actual place of damage, the body’s own immune system..

Now generally speaking, normal peripheral nerve damage does usually heal itself. I’m talking about feeling your hand numb for a day after sleeping on it during the night, or pulling an articulation and loosing feeling in the member for a while (I had this on my finger.). It heals because it is usually caused by edema of the tissue surrounding the nerve, which is an inflammation and goes down in a few days.

Nerve damage in the spine however is a different beast. Severed nerves coming out of the back bone will generally heal a lot less.

Viral damage is very nasty also. It can attack the neurons in various ways, from preventing them from firing to eating away at the mielin that covers and helps transmit the nervous impulses along.

But all this is theory and I could probably go on and on.
So, can one cause nerve damage to his penis? Yes, but it will be hard.
Is nerve damage the same as desensitizing it? No. One is complete lack of feeling, the other slight decrease in sensation (which might be cause by thickening of the skin for instance)

Just my 2 cents.
