Odd Bumpy Protrusion

Odd Bumpy Protrusion

A couple of months ago, there appeared a spot on the underside of my shaft which was pinkish. At first I didn’t notice it, but eventually I did. It is not large or small, but noticeable.

I’ve been ignoring it for a while, but once I started to expect it more thoroughly. I felt a bit of “bumpiness” in it, sort of like a whitehead, so I tried to “pop” it. Moving it back and forth with my fingers, some stringy white stuff came out of it, but it was difficult to get it out. Sometimes I would roll the area back and forth with my fingers… sometimes very little came out, but sometimes enough of it came out that some of it fell on the ground and got on my fingers.

When it gets on my finger, I hold it up to the light to see if it’s moving, but it isn’t. I thought it may have been some time of parasite or a whitehead.

I can feel the bumpiness about a few superficial layers deep into the skin, and it feels like there’s a hardened substance there. This area has never caused any pain aside from me forcibly squeezing it and has never spread… it seems like it’s starting to diminish though.

For the past few months, I have actually put myself into a situation where I faced stress unlike I’ve ever endured. Also, I’ve been skipping meals, eating far less fruits & vegetables, and consuming less water than I usually do. Normally I’m extremely health-conscious and consume daily smoothies & tea for health purposes.

I plan on going to a clinic next week, but for some reason now my paranoia is becoming very concentrated on this. What could this possibly be? I’m beginning to think it may be warts, but those cause pain, right? Could it just be some type of large whitehead?

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Google Sebaceous Prominence.

Thanks for your swift response.

Yikes. These don’t go away? This was a wave of relief until one of the articles I read said they don’t go away…. maybe all of the nutrients from food will affect my sebaceous glands to eliminate the clogging? At least it’s not an std, but won’t women look at it as one?

Oddly I have a few and no one has ever commented on them. They’ve never gone away in 25 years, regardless of what I’ve tried. My advice would be to leave them alone. Prodding and poking and squeezing them inflames them and they can scar a bit, making them more noticeable and prominent.

What have you tried? This is a little bit too unbelievable right now… I’ve already had someone comment on my skin looking “pink” and “raw” before I even knew this was here.

I may have to retake the pics because for some reason only 1 appeared in my e-mail, and I stupidly rushed to delete them right after I sent them all, sorry for that.

Not the best pictures, so hard to be sure. Sebaceous prominences do look like that, but it looks like they are a bit irritated and much more obvious than usual. Stress, as well as messing with them, will tend to exacerbate that.

I’ve tried all the usual things you would use for excess oiliness on your face etc.. They’ve never bothered me enough to really try hard to get rid of them. Here are some more suggestions of things you may like to try: ▷ Fordyce Spots - Pictures, Symptoms, Causes, Treatment (Removal) : Health Blog

Sure it’s not a good old fashioned pimple? I had one that sounds similar to yours. Once it finally came to a head, I squeezed it and it resolved.

Go to the doctor and let a trained eye take a look at it.

If this is caused by trapped oil in the skin, what makes them unable to go away? My phone quality is bad, those are the best I could get. And for the love of gosh I hope these don’t appear on the vermillion border of my lips. That would be a nightmare come true.

At this point, I would be ecstatic if it’s only a pimple. I mean, some white stringy stuff comes out if I squeeze it… but on the other hand, I can feel some hard substance in the skin around the area. I used to get a lot of pimples in my face and always popped them, unfortunately these seem different from those.

Would you mind describing your pimple experience there?

That is a perfect description of a sebaceous prominence (or Fordyce Spot for it’s other common name). The ‘hard substance’ is a change in the quality of the collagen in the skin around the follicle, which is why they generally don’t go away. Sometimes mine almost seem to go away, then they don’t. It seems occasionally some people’s do though. They are quite common, and women get them too.

The nurse confirmed that this is nothing at all to worry about. She didn’t notice it until I pointed it out directly. She said it is a furuncle and normal.

The thought of having something called a furuncle on my penis does not make me very happy, but it’s not an std… and apparently too small to even be bothered with or noticed… so I suppose I’ll just stop worrying about it.

Will a furuncle affect any specific PE exercises?
