Give it a try!
Some things are “supplements” because there’s no profit for drug companies to go through the lengthy and expensive FDA approval process. Sometimes their active ingredients are something already known, and not patentable due to prior knowledge. And sometimes they only work for some people, and do nothing for others.
A lot of drugs get approval even with the latter; my wife was prescribed a drug that was supposed to help control her blood sugar. Instead, it made it worse. I found the paperwork they had submitted to the FDA, which showed that it made the problem *worse* 2/3 of the time. She was in that group.
Dietary supplements are often hit-or-miss as well. On the other hand, they’re cheap and you don’t have to have an MD to try them.
