Garlic.

I disagree with that if one uses anabolics. You do need extra protein. If your training naturally, I recommend a higher carb diet unless your cutting.

Back in college I used to eat a raw clove of garlic everyday and wash it down with a bit of orange juice. The O.J. Would take the taste out of my mouth more rapidly than other drinks—not that I really minded the taste! If I took it on an empty stomach I would get an initial “high” feeling and I could really feel my blood coursing through my veins. Through out the whole time I was taking it I felt great, my eyes turned a brighter, more vibrant shade of blue, and I always felt “clean” somehow. I -never- got sick. I’ve never taken garlic supplements, so I can’t comment on that. However, I don’t think any supplement can be as good for you as raw, unadulterated garlic; by the nature of processing it you’re going to lose something nutrient-wise. The only problem was the looks I would get from people; I could turn heads in class from three or four rows away!! Ha Ha Ha !! I’ve never tried it with PE but if it doesn’t benefit you there, rest assured it will manifest itself positively somewhere!

Point 1:
Despite decades of research suggesting that garlic can improve cholesterol profiles, a new NIH-funded trial found absolutely no effects of raw garlic or garlic supplements on LDL, HDL, or triglycerides… The findings underscore the hazards of meta-analyses made up of small, flawed studies and the value of rigorously studying popular herbal remedies. ”

Point 2:
Garlic supplementation in rats, along with a high protein diet, has been shown to boost testosterone levels.

Is there a way to get garlic into you raw without that fucking smell?

Please someone say yes because I love garlic but I work with the public in a very busy shopping centre (mall to my U.S. Friends) so stinking like Van Helsing is not really an option. In fact we would send someone home for smelling badly as it reflects badly on their personal hygiene which in turn reflects on the centre and with me being the manager I guess that isn’t really an option.

:)

I know there’s supplements as well but taking garlic in raw form must be far superior.

Eat it in the afternoon or at night when you’re home. That should give you a lot of time before morning. And eat some parsley or clove to refresh the breath.

Garlic supplementation increases peripheral blood flow: a role for interleukin-6?

There is considerable epidemiological and clinical evidence that regular garlic supplementation reduces cardiovascular risk. In this study, we have investigated the hypothesis that dietary garlic supplementation increases tissue blood flow and this is mediated by the vasodilatory actions of interleukin-6 (IL-6). Venous occlusion plethysmography was used to measure resting calf blood flow before and after oral administration of 600 mg of garlic tablets once daily for 7 days in 13 young healthy female volunteers (treatment group) and 13 female controls matched for age and body mass index (BMI). Blood samples were obtained at the time of plethysmography to measure plasma levels of IL-6, nitrate, nitrite and c-GMP. In the treatment group, calf blood flow increased significantly from 3.01 (2.56 to 3.3) ml min(-1) 100 mL(-1) of tissue before garlic to 3.46 (3.0 to 4.03) ml min(-1) 100 mL(-1) of tissue after 7 days of garlic (P = 0.001). Plasma IL-6 concentrations increased significantly from 54.6 (32.3 to 151.6) mcg/mL before to 151 (135.75 to 422.3) mcg/mL after 7 days of garlic (P = 0.02). However, there was no significant change in the plasma levels of nitrate, nitrite and c-GMP after the garlic (P = 0.4, 0.9 and 0.65 respectively). In the control group, resting calf blood flow and plasma levels of IL-6, nitrite, nitrate and c-GMP remained unchanged after 7 days (P = 0.62, 0.92, 0.28 and 0.35 respectively). Calf blood flow showed a non-linear correlation with plasma IL-6 levels after garlic supplementation (r = 0.86, p = <0.001) but not before. There was no significant relationship between blood flow and plasma nitrate, nitrite and c-GMP in either groups and between blood flow and IL-6 in the control group. These data suggest that garlic supplementation increases resting tissue blood flow and this may be mediated by IL-6.

The question I am working to answer is…..would pickled garlic work just as well or at least give most of the benefits. Love pickled garlic!

Just to clarify, garlic actually makes you have bad body odor or are people just talking about breath?

To get garlic inside of you without the smelly side effects, simply finely dice or mince it, let it sit on the cutting board for a few minutes (it needs to be exposed to air), put it in a small glass with a tablespoon or two of (ideally high-quality) extra virgin olive oil, and throw the whole concoction down the hatch. Don’t actually chew the garlic at all. Just swallow it. Chopping it on the cutting board and exposing it to oxygen mimics the effect of mastication and “activates” it’s supposed health benefits.

I have gotten creative with it over the years and now like to add the minced garlic (after oxygenating it) to tomato juice with turmeric and cayenne, two excellent spices with great health benefits of their own.

My wife never takes raw garlic but has never complained about any smells from my end, at least since I have been taking it according to the above method and not actually chewing it, which was a big mistake.

Chewing raw garlic must be harder than clamping :D

I am about to order some garlic pills. So the odorless ones don’t work as well though?

The odourless pills are of a lower potency/strength, unfortunately.

:(

Bad body odor also, unfortunately. Effects on breath can avoided in some ways, but once it is in your body you can’t avoid the bad smelling, by what I know. Some of the benefits are strictly due to the same substance that causes bad smelling.

Recipe:

We used this at one of the restaurants I used to work at. We could not even keep p with the demand.

Crush or mince a clove of garlic.
Apply to a piece of toasted french bread extra virgin olive oil
Add some balsamic vinegar then top it with the crushed garlic.

Taste really good!
