Every so often I try to make a concoction that helps make me a little more sociable without using alcohol, since alcohol seems to really mess up my self drive and discipline the next day (no good if you have a strict training, diet, or work schedule), plus it is somewhat debilitating.
I’ve never found the perfect mix, but I’ve found some interesting mixes. I’ve had a look through my notes for some old mixes, but couldn’t find them. Here is one that I do remember though:
1000mg Acetyl-L-Tyrosine
1000mg DLPA
120mg Ginko Biloba
400mg Rhodeola Rosa
It was supposed to be something like an amphetamine feeling, but it didn’t quite work out like that for me. It was kind of relaxing and alert at the same time. Chilled and silly without being debilitating, unless of course you add alcohol. That was the biggest effect I noticed. If I had one beer with this, it felt like 4 or 5. The effect lasted for a couple of hours. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on how you look at it. It means you can drink much less for the same effect, then magically be sober at the end of the night, having spent less and done less damage to your body. If however you don’t like the effect of alcohol then it would be better to avoid it.
The piracetam is one component of a nootropic stack I tried. I took it with vinpocetine, Rhodeola Rosa and Ginko. There are others to play around with such as aniracetam which is more widely available now than it was when I tried these. The effects were not what I was looking for though. If I had to cram for an exam or learn a lot I would be right back on them since it makes learning, retention and holding lots of variables in your head at once, quite a standard task with little effort. I had read about people having a major awakening with this stuff, but I never did. What I did notice is that my own point of view seemed to stay exactly where it was (though granted, a little clearer), but everyone I met seemed to be really slow and dumb as a post, and I would get frustrated with their lack of ability to get up to speed, do anything complex, or understand what I was trying to convey because their head hurt trying to take it on board. For me this wasn’t desirable for everyday life as I just wanted to be able to get on with people without over analyzing everything, but for other people they might find it to be a wonderful experience. I’m told that the effects wear off after several weeks so it must be cycled. I didn’t do it for more than a week before I wanted to be dumb and average.
Chocomine is alleged to contain the stimulating compound that is found in chocolate. You can get it from BeyondACentury.com. It also looks and tastes like drinking chocolate without the sweetness. First time I tried it I took nearly a tablespoon full (mistake!) and didn’t sleep (or feel the need to) for over 50 hours. I might use it if I new I had a long day ahead of me as preferable alternative to something like ProPlus, but look out for the caffeine kick.
