Supplements for a better life

The length of the chain does not change the fact that they are saturated. I am not denying that possible benefits exist, just stating that almost all major health organizations warn against excessive saturated fat intake.

yup - They say that, and humanity is heavier now than at any time in it’s history.. In other words you’ve been lied to.. Not all fats are created equal.. Keep insulin out of your blood stream and you can eat whatever fats you like with impunity…We have been on a full ketogenic diet for nearly 3 months, 2 of the three of us have had full blood work done with the results described as “perfect” and “remarkable”..

Right on! Another note about coconut oil is that it requires little to no digestion and every cell in the body can use it for energy, including brain cells. This type of saturated fat is exceptionally suited to energy production by the mitochondria.

Interestingly, ketones are directly available for conversion into ATP by mitochondria and unlike glycogen do not require the krebbs cycle to be made available for ATP. i.e. Your cellular engine room runs more efficiently, produces less exhaust and isn’t being swamped by ROS free radicals..

Sugar is a POISON.. Insulin is a method the body uses to remove it as fast as possible from the system.. It was never meant to be the primary means of fueling cellular activity..

Have a good read of the following text, particularly the section concerning Insulin and Carbohydrates…

Good stuff Oz.

Some more that I like to incorporate into my diet.

Cayenne pepper - great cleanser / metabolism booster, the cleansing benefit comes from causing the mucus membranes (they are all through the GI tract) to run thin, clear, lubricating mucus, and slough off any thicker mucus that may be harboring bacteria or irritants that it captured (that’s part of it’s job) so it can be eliminated. The other job of mucus is to lubricate the colon so cayenne can help with constipation. Thermogenesis is aided by cayenne as well as inhibiting fat synthesis. Also, there are anti cancer properties to cayenne.

Sea Salt - real sea salt, sun dried and hand made. This is really awesome stuff, it has about half the sodium as washed kiln dried sea salt which means that roughly 300-400mg of sodium is displaced by real minerals, trace minerals and other healthy things from the sea. We need sodium, but just sodium is a recipe for trouble. The magnesium and calcium, trace iodine, lithium, gold, and huge list of other trace minerals that we only need in minute amounts are to be found in the primordial soup we all came from. Real sea salt help regulate a healthy blood pressure and keeps you hydrated. Great for the adrenal glands and the nervous system. I love the Celtic sea salt from France, Celtic sea salt supplies all 82 trace minerals. As long as it’s properly made though other brands are good as well.

I am into coconut oil as well for about six months now and other supps indicated elsewhere on this section. Interesting to mention yesterday I had a clinical appointment at the hospital. My last blood test showed some inflammatory trends but the very last and thorough test gives me the all clear my immunologist said full marks for your blood and test levels are that of a 40 years old man. Her comments made me very happy I must be doing something right though I can’t escape a pending MRI of my lower back scheduled in Jan or Feb LOL!

Oz would you mind giving an example of what you would eat in a day? I think that would be helpful for someone wishing to follow your diet.

Hey mizguy12,

Typically breakfast is 1 x 175 ml can coconut milk, (full fat), handful of almonds, 1 x 95 gm can tuna, 2 cups black tea.

Morning tea 1 x 175 ml can coconut milk, (full fat).

Lunch, (after workout), 1 x 175 ml can coconut milk, (full fat), 2 x hard boiled eggs.

Afternoon tea, 1 x 175 ml can coconut milk, (full fat),, 1-2 hard boiled eggs..

Tea - pretty much anything that comes to - 40-50 gm protein, 2-300 gm fat, various fibre etc. As little carbs as is possible.

Desert - 50 gm strawberries with double cream or low carb ice cream, (home made).

Most days I aim for 2200 - 2400 cal total.. It may sound spartan, however this diet seems to eliminate hunger, some days I have to force myself to eat..

Weekends I may have a honey bourbon with coke zero, (3 gm carbs each glass).

Every second weekend a full 24h period of eating whatever we want, (usually coincides with a party etc.)

Hope this helps :)

I love fresh coconut. It’s one of nature’s perfect foods.

I haven’t checked into this thread for a bit, maybe someone mentioned the two most beneficial cyanobacteria already.

Spirulina and Chlorella.

Great source of protein and all vitamins minerals amino acids and anything else the body needs. Also a great chelating agent for removing radiation and heavy metals from the body. 3-5 grams per day.

OK, I’ve revised my plans and your advice and this is what I’ve come up with:

Pygeum - for increased EQ (possibly) and in order to relieve my nightly urinating problem.
L-arginine - for increased EQ and improved blood circulation (I can go out in a T-shirt in the winter and I’m not cold, but if I don’t wear gloves my hands become numb pieces of ice).
Brazil nuts - for the nuts.
Some general purpose vitamins - self-explanatory.
Vitamin D3 - because winter is coming and there won’t be any sun (vitamin D3 is naturally produced in the body after exposure to sunlight).
Vitamin K2 or butter oil, which is a good natural source of the fore mentioned vitamin - because it’s the infamous activator X and is good for a lot of things.
Chia and flax seeds (Omega 3), olive/coconut oil (Omega 6 and some vitamin K), carrots (vitamin A) and eggs/fish (vitamin D) OR fermented cod liver oil - for overall health. I could end up substituting some of the things with vitamins in the form of pills. [b]I would appreciate if someone shares their knowledge about different vitamin/mineral absorption, f.e. if some vitamins are absorbed way more ineffectively in pill form than coming from foods (which may be the general case, but one can hardly get every single vitamin and mineral from food).
Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri) - for the brain and possibly other stuff.
Damiana - EQ, bigger balls and being more energetic.

I’ll try to add some berries to my diet, but they’re pretty expensive this time of the year (winter in Europe). I might also try spirulina and chlorella. Does anyone sell those whole or does the powdered/pill form retain most of the benefits?
