The way I see it. Heterosexual- attracted to opposite sex, Homosexual- attracted to the same sex, Meterosexuality- attracted to oneself

Please, we should strive away from becoming metrosexuals. Nothing wrong with grooming oneself in moderation, but metrosexuality is destructive. It is not normal, I don’t care if girls like the sensitive girly guy, you’re throwing away your masculinity.

Most of my mates would put me in the ‘metrosexual’ pigeonhole. I don’t accept the word as a description. I take care of myself, I am very secure in my sexuality, so I’ll wear what I like, groom myself the way I like. I work out, I look after myself.

I am still very much masculine. I get chatted up by gay guys a fair bit when I’m out, but to me this is just a compliment, because I look after myself and look good.

I’m not effeminate, and not interested in other guys, just girls…

As far as it being not normal to look after yourself and look good? What? Who the fuck wants to be normal?

In regards to “metrosexuality” I think some people take it too far, but some people have it right in my opinion.

I consider and have been called metro and to some extent consider it a compliment. As with all things there are different levels. I am considered “metro” because- I can dress myself, I take care of myself- excersize and grooming- I do use special soap for my face and do have some anti-agin creams. I also don’t care too much for sports, can dance, etc. If my back was Hairy I’d take care of it but fortunately it’s not. I do maintain downstairs, but stop short of shaving my entire body- I clipper my pit hair because I am extra sweaty there and keeping it short (1/2 inch) allows better penetration for anti-perserant.

I think taking it too far is-

Guys wearing makeup
Shaving your entire body
Waxing your eyebrows
acting overly effemeniate (if you were that way before metrosexuality- fine)
using womens accesories

That’s just my opinion- nothing wrong with being “metro” but I’m still old fashioned and want women to know that I am a man- Scars, Hairy chest and all.

That being said the one Thing I’m interested in is the ass-crack shaving. I know hair holds in odor and also tends to make me have to wipe more.

You do this and you don’t have any pain? I thought about trying stuff like that on my boys but the warning was pretty clear about avoiding your genital region. So you’ve done this with no pain? do you avoid getting down to the anus?

I think it’s better a man is true to himself and doesn’t let those men’s health magazines (which are full of bullshit) influence him.

My main critiscism with metrosexuality is that it is the false idea of what a man should be. There is nothing wrong with looking after yourself, i go to hair stylist and get some of the best haircuts. (my hair is quite long, straight, blonde and brown in different places but I don’t live up to a metrosexual ideal). However, I doubt that grooming should be thrown into the same category as metrosexuality. Metrosexuality is a fixation of the self and it’s body image. The idea that a cosmetic beauty is far superior to a natural one, which isn’t the case. Just because you shop at designer clothing stores doesn’t make you a metrosexual, but if you buy the magazines, the make-up, actually enjoy shopping as much as a girl does then you’ve become a slave to this ideal.

Maybe bodybuilders and PE’ers are metrosexuals with its comparisons but I doubt it. I think we’re mostly just average guys From a poll on this site I am led to believe that our sexuality isn’t that much different from the population as a whole, i think the difference is that may be we want to satisfy our own esteem.

Now interestingly enough, a friend of mine finds crossdressing erotic yet he is into extreme sports like dry skiing and motorcycling at circuits and doesn’t live up to the camp image. I guess this was maybe what metrosexuals wanted to escape from, the pigeon-holing of the gay category. Well, I think its a loose term that shouldn’t have been mentioned in the dictionary. If you’re a metrosexual, remember girls don’t like a guy with just a pretty face, they like guys who’re confident enough with themselves and dont let a pimple or scruffy hair affect their esteem. GQ should be ashamed of themselves from profitting from the anxious ‘nice guy’ who don’t have the natural confidence to talk up to a girl. I agree with Magus, girls aren’t that shallow and I think the metrosexual craze going on now is going way to far. Reminds me of the South Park episode :-P

I think what seperates a metrosexual from a normal guy is that a normal guy still remains true to himself whereas a metrosexual hasn’t quite accepted himself. Its just my opinion. Of course I maybe a hypocrite, wanting to improve my penis. However, my reasons are is that I want a very active sex life that will fulfill me into old age. Honestly, my conclusion is confidence and consistency outshines glammed looks and pretention.
