Style?

Hey Maxtro,

First off you’re a good-looking guy, and that smile you model in the T-shirt pic suits you more than the moody look. But show some teeth, really smile like you just watched saw some guy get hit in the balls with a baseball. WHACK! Gotta hurt!

If I was you here are a couple of things I might thhink about.

1. Dress like the music you are into,
I like indie/rock and a bit of hip hop. I often wear baggyish jeans (no need to go branded on Jeans), real old skool trainers (adidas broughams or top tens), and branded/retro t-shirts mainly (with brands don’t buy anything that has huge logo’s on, [unless its a cool old skool nike logo] you will look like an advert or a brand whore). The point of this is when you are in a club that plays that type of music you are into you won’t look out of place.

2. I think your hair does look better shorter. But perhaps don’t have the back and sides cropped so short, you have a oval shaped face as opposed to a more circular one, so if the top is longer than the sides, it makes your face look longer. If you haven’t got any product on it experiment. I like Dax wax. Also your hair looks pretty thick (like mine) try to get a thinning comb to thin it out when it gets too long/thick. The spikey/rough/ruffled look looks good on the top but if the back and sides were a bit longer mess them up too.

3. Shave every 3-4 days.
Facial hair/Stubble looks good. I shave with a beard trimmer every 4 days ish to make sure I always have about 1-4mm of stubble.

4. Work out
If you lack confidence, go the gym, once you look sleeker you have more confident with your looks. Focus on chest, shoulders, arms and stomache. This is where girls look. But like I said in another thread, I worked out hard for about three years, stop for ages and I get a gf?!? Not a sure fire method to get girls. But feels good when you rub past girls at a gig/club and they feel your hard pecs and stomach.

That’s all for now….

The latest photos look loads better than the first ones. Nice work.

Also take loads of photos of yourself and put them on Hot or not, let the rating gauge which look looks best. Quite a boost for confidence too, My GF put two photos of me on there. I got 9 and 9.2. I thought I was a 6 or a 7max!

The main problem I have with you is, you really beat yourself up, like I mean you beat the shit out of you and are really into self-flagellation. You can create an outer style all day, have a new one every week, or even every day, but ultimately you will have to be comfortable in your own skin.

BBS is right, don’t beat yourself up so bad, you seem like a cool guy. I’d hang with you, although not sure I would come to the sex club with you, bit risky for me :D !

:chicken:

Melvin, it’d be nice to see what face got you the 9 and 9.2
Can you share em with us please?

EDIT: Also, cool that you use dax wax! I do to, although it’s
pretty disliked due to the stickiness here in Sweden. (red one)

I really like dance/club/house music. How would I dress like that?

I did what luvdadus said, I went to a hair stylist and said I wanted a style that looks good on me and this is what she came up with. I think she actually wanted to go go shorter but I thought it was fine.

I’m going to by a trimmer very shortly. The longest I’ve gone without shaving was about 5 days and by that time it just looked messy and I ended up shaving it all off. But a trimmer should make it look neat.

I’ve been working out on and off for about three years now and got minimal results. I’m not good at motivating myself so I have a hard time sticking to things that take a while to see results.

Thanks. I’m glad I’m making progress. I was on hot or not with a couple of photos. The average was 7 but those were old pics.

self-flagellation I had to look in the dictionary for that one.

flagellation

Whipping oneself or another as a means of arousing or heightening sexual feeling
Beating with a whip or strap or rope as a form of punishment

I definitely don’t mean to knock myself down and killing my mood but whenever somebody confronts me about who I am that is what I come up with. It’s very hard to be me, and the lack of any real success be it in life, school, money, love and women doesn’t help either. How can somebody who’s 22 years old, lives with his grandmother, still going to Jr college, has only a part time job, no friends, no girlfriend…ever, had to get a hooker to loose virginity, too scared to approach women; not beat himself up? And don’t forget that I’m short and have a small dick. It’s a miracle that I’m still alive but I have a family loves me and my religion to make sure I stay living.

I know I have to stay alive so I’m trying to do what I can to make sure I enjoy life. To do that I need to improve myself and the first step is to make sure I look good. Then I can start getting over my fear of women, I’ll be able to start approaching and picking them up. Once I start having an active sex life and being around women as much as I need to, I’ll be able to buckle down and really focus on school and work. Then make sure I have long and happy life.

Damn, you sound like a friend of mine describing your self.

And yes you have friends, everyone here. Maybe you just have to recognise

who you can talk an socialise with?

rymdrattan,

I know I have friends here but online buddies don’t quite cut it but they are nice to have.

Quick question to anybody who knows; What is the best way to wear sunglasses when you’re not wearing them? I usually wear them folded, hanging from my shirt but that clashes with my necklace. My other way I wear them is on my forehead/top of head but it messes up my hair.

Hey Maxtro,

Here are some tips for you:

10 Truths that Transcend Trends

1. Hygiene - Nothing can break an outfit better than overgrown nails, greasy hair, and a stench.

2. Coordination - Your outfits should have a congruent feel. Each part should lead to the next vs. each part competing with each other.

3. Confidence - People can tell if your self-concise about wearing a new style. If you can’t help it then dress plain until you find some confidence.

4. Comfort - People notice when you move around like a robot because your clothes are to tight or shoes don’t offer the support you need.

5. Simple - Don’t try to turn heads, just look sharp. People can tell when someone is trying to impress them.

6. Fit-Make sure you sit down in your pants, cross your legs, and walk around before you buy them. It looks pretty tacky when the sleeves of your suit are eight inches away from your hands and your pant legs go up to your knees when you sit down.

7. Appropriate - Exactly what it says, make sure you ask around. You don’t want to wear a tie when all you need is polo, and you don’t want to wear turtle neck when the club requires a tie.

8. Health - No matter how stylish you look, if you’re a ball a fat you can’t hide it. Make sure you exercise regularly. (four times a week, lifting and jogging/cycling)

9. Quality - A black cashmere sweater will present itself better than the wool one your grandmother made you.

10. Well-kept Clothes - Even a $2,000 suit won’t look good if its covered in cat hair. Make sure your clothes are lint-free, wrinkle-free, and stench free.

Some more shoe tips:

Other specialty shoes appropriate for you such as basketball, jogging, etc… should be worn with plain white athletic socks. When wearing shorts, the current style is very short socks, meaning your socks should barely come above your shoes.

Bare Necessity of Recommended shoes you should own:

A pair of stylish black dress shoes for suits and slacks

A pair of casual/nice brown hiking boots for jeans/khakis to wear with brown belt

A pair of casual/nice black hiking boots for jeans, khakis to wear with your black belt

Which Shoes should I Get?

Your shoes should always match your belt.
Never wear tennis shoes with Khakis or slacks
Shoes should coordinate with socks. Never wear brown socks with black shoes, blacks socks with whites shoes, etc… In addition, white socks are most appropriate for tennis shoes.
Shoes should supplement your wardrobe not overpower it. In today’s world shoes shouldn’t be the first accessory people notice on you.

A website I found that can answer most of your style questions:

As for all of the comments about your inner self:

Isn’t this thread titled Style? We all have to start some where and it seems like Maxtro wants to work from the outside in, there is nothing wrong with that. You know, some people say that, “it is the clothes that make the man”. I don’t think a man can be defined by the way he dresses, but, if you are trying to get women to notice you, dressing the part of a confident man will not hurt your chances Maxtro.

Take care,
Anth

What suits me best is holding them folded in you hand.
Or placing them somewhere just for the moment, but see to it that you
remember where they are and all. Other you could keep them
in your pocket the same way you keep them on your shirt.

Yeah, the problem is that hairs on the face grow in at different paces. So if you just “let it go” for two weeks, you may end up with several very long facial hairs, and stubble coming in elsewhere — nasty unkempt 16 y/o look!! Use the trimmer regularly at a fairly short length and have patience: wait at least three or four weeks, and you may find that the stubble/shadow has filled in quite evenly and handsomely.

Oops, forgot to mention to follow the 11 more Articles & Resources link at the bottom of the page when you want to read more about mens style.

I had no idea about coordinating. Wow, shoes have to match a belt. Good thing that I only have black shoes and a black belt. Oddly enough I already and know/live by the 10 truths. But I need to put in extra effort for #’s 2 & 3 and the wrinkle part in 10.And about the confidence part. Knowing that I am on my way to look better is really helping. Thanks for the link. I need to spend some time and go over it.

For sunglass I meant when I’m wearing a t-shirt that doesn’t have any pockets. Then I walk into a inside somewhere. I’ve seen some guys wear them on the back of their head or neck but I don’t know if that’s cool or simply stupid.

Dang I had no idea it would take weeks to get the grown in look. I’ll trim regularly and see what happens.

Rymdrattan:
Sharing photos: no. Sorry. :D There is no way in my mind that I am any where near a 9. Thats model territory. I think I am a seven and there are a lot of desperate people on Hot or not. Also you have style, I’m sure you would score high on hot or not. You look like a model for H&M and it works for you. But don’t get too big headed. Arrogance is not attractive.

But yeah Dax wax Rocks, the red one is great for shorter hair, and the blue is good for longer hair. Bastard to get off your hands and even worse to get out of your hair.

Maxtro:
I don’t really know how people into house music dress, I suppose its easier to look like a band member than a house DJ. Take a look around the club to see what everyone else is wearing.

Good luck with the trimmer, I always get shaving rash anyway and trimmers solve this. And like Para says, it all looks even.

And just for the record, I didn’t have a girlfriend till I was 22. Ok our relationship isn’t perfect, as you may tell from my last “why you shouldn’t read your partners email thread”. But if it wasn’t for her I would still be a virgin, no other girl has shown me any real interest like she did/does.

With the clothes, I think you have to wear what you feel comfortable in. There have been a lot of good ideas in this thread but a lot of conflicting styles, I only described the way I dress as an illustration. For example, Anth suggested loads of good stuff, but nothing there would go my style or with anything I wear.

I am slightly concerned that you were saying you have no friends (besides the hundreds you have here!). This would be a priority for me. You should try and join some clubs and meet people, for example Martial Arts is a great way to make friends, and you get fit. I think you also feel like you are “stuck in a rut” where you are now, if you get the chance; move away from home, goto uni, socialise, join clubs and meet new people, you won’t like everyone but you are bound to meet some cool people. It’s a big change moving towns but you seem to describe that you have little going for you where you are now.

With the fear of women thing: try going to free chat sites where you can view girls profiles and start a chat with them. I started doing this just in the theory that if I could talk to girls online, then I could talk to them in real-life. In actual fact I met my girlfriend online. It was quite geeky and strange, but we don’t tell many people where we met!

Take it easy.

p.s. I am also short and have a small dick. I’m in the E club in that crappy chart thing. But I bet we can get to D, then to C then to B. Just stick around! 3 Years tops! Then as SS4 says, you never have to worry about it ever again (except maintenance).

:chicken:

Yeah it is kind of hard to dress like somebody into house music. Most people who go to clubs wear their flashy clothes and I don’t think that they dress like that all the time.

Wow no girlfriend till 22. Just like me, except I haven’t got mine yet and I turn 23 in two months. At least we lost our virginity at the same age.

I agree that I need to meet people. And I’m really considering martial arts. I did it when I was younger and I would love to get back into it. I just need more money I can do it.

Yup I’m going to try and meet girls online, for me it’s a lot easier to start talking to girls online then in real life and I’m hoping to meet some real soon. I’m actually going to start talking to some girls at face the jury. I’m just going to get some good pictures up first then I’m going to start messaging them.

Melvin you seem a lot like me. We can get to our goals.

Oh gee thanks Melvin! ;)
No I’m really not good looking, but I try my best to amplify
my good sides and cast shadows over the bad sides.

I’m short, crooked teeth, and have a really really awful
side view, that doesn’t show on pictures. :D
Also I have too long arms, so that 99% of all
longs leaved sweaters do not fit me at all.
And last but not least, my voice is really bright and boyish.

But as they say, you have to work with what you have
and try to make it the best possible.

*cheers*
