Bad fat-pad, time for ab work

Bad fat-pad, time for ab work

For most, if not all, of us, our BPFSL and BPL is substantially longer than our non-bone pressed measurement. I have a discrepancy of 1.25" between my NBP and BP. If I could get rid of the flab, I’d be sporting a seven-and-a-half-inch penis.
Some on the forum have suggested that there is no way to eliminate the fat-pad, barring liposuction. I disagree. While it is difficult to rid ourselves of mid-section flab, especially as we get older, I believe the fat-pad can be minimized with a rigorous abdominal training program and surgery is unnecessary.

The State of the Body
As I wind down my hanging routine, I’ve begun to focus more on improving the rest of my body. Up until I started PE, I had lifted weights and did some running. PE took over all of my free time and now I’m weak and flabby. Hanging has given me good gains but has also given me a thicker fat pad. Hours upon hours sitting in a chair has taken it’s toll on my body, not to mention it wreaked havoc on my posture.

I want that 1.25"
The plan is to resume my old training routine and add to it an intense abdominal routine. My goal is to reduce the fat-pad to .5". I worked hard for my PE gains and there is no sense in letting them get covered by fat. In a recent PM exchange with another member, I explained how my erection angle could benefit from being lower. The higher my EA is, the greater the amount of shaft that gets enveloped by the fat-pad. The fat-pad being pushed up actually creates a roll. Not cool.

If I do not do anything about this now, the harder it will be to correct in the future. (Similar to the SocSec system :) .) It may, I fear, become irreversible.

Here are some links to ab exercises.

The ‘fat’ around the fat pad is very similar to gut fat in that it is the last to go when men lose weight. You can do sit-ups and crunches and leg lifts all day and never see your abs (or more dick).

Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. To get rid of the fat pad you are going to have eat a proper diet and get on a good cardio workout routine.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with ab exercises. I think they are great. But if you want to SEE those big abs, lose the weight with diet and cardio.

So true OHL. People who don’t like cardio work are fresh out of luck. My abs can be in great shape and still have a layer of fat on them. Only heavy amounts of cardio (1 hr a day) and a low fat diet gets rid of it. It sucks and wasn’t always this way. Just one of the many drawbacks of a slowing metabolism. :sigh:

I’m with you Rods. Just started banging the heavy bag again this week. Every day in my world there are 50 reasons in the summer to go shirtless - and Cappy has a reputation to uphold.

A genuine conversation the other day with my little girl who was using me as a trampoline as I lay on the couch watching tv:

Her: Daddy, your belly is getting fat!
Me: Daddy’s not getting fat, sweetie.
Her: You smell bad too.

1hung, what you say makes a lot of sense. And I’m assuming you believe that one needs a balance of a proper diet and exercise. As you say, just exercise alone will not give you a great six-pack. The same thing with diet, that alone will not put a body in great shape.

Before PE, I was in good shape. I stopped consistently training but my diet has stayed the same. If anything, I eat less. I got flabby because I was sedentary and not burning my caloric intake like I used to.

So, I figure all I have to do is resume my training; my diet is fine.

Kids, you gotta love them. This is a little off topic but I have to tell you this. I went to a funeral for my brothers mother-in-law the other day. My mother, holding her 5 year old granddaughter (my brothers kid), told her to go up to her other grandpa and say she is sorry that grandma died. Her reply: “Why, I did’nt kill her.” TRUE STORY!

Anyway, I am fighting the “too-much-fat-pad-can’t-see-your-abs-summer-is-right-around-the-corner” thing too. I am losing the fat at a rate of one pound per week. Slowly but surely, the abs are peeking thru.

UPDATE: True, if you already have a good diet and just ad exercise you should be just fine. Sorry to imply your diet was not balanced.

That’s funny stuff OHL. My son at 9 years old already has an incredibly ripped physique (he’s something of a gymnastics prodigy and looks like a miniature superhero) and he likes to kid me that together with his six and my one together we have a seven-pack.
Little smart ass. I don’t know where he gets it from.

I do say Rodney old chum, your thinking about calories vs training may be true - but tweaking protein vs fat (or carbs) might only help speed things along. Works wonders for me. Otherwise trimming down via strictly training takes me much longer. Like a New England winter.

How far do you take it, Cap? Counting every single gram of carbs and protein just ain’t my style.

I like food. I like large quantities of food. I have never over-indulged in junk food, though. No chips, nachos, or twinkies. I hardly ever drink, too. I do, however, eat a truckload of red meat every day. No shit, if you liked steers half as much as like turkeys, you would put a “hit” out on me. Every day I eat over a pound of red meat, and a good amount of bread, too. Like a good American, I cook burgers on the grill all the time — the neighbors think I’m crazy.

I have, for a long time, gotten away with eating so much food because I have always trained consistently. Another thing, our bodies like routines. We run more efficiently when we eat the same amount every day, exercise the same time every day, and go to bed at the same time. The metabolism doesn’t get confused and start storing fat because it does not know when the next meal is coming.

That’s why I think counting grams is over-rated. Common sense is more important.
I’m rambling now, so I’ll stop.

Ramrod, you eat like I do. Tons of meat but easy on the sweets and fat. I don’t count calories or fat grams or anything like that, but I do read the labels and make an effort to stay away from dead calories and things that have a lot of fat. It’s a lot easier than being on a ‘diet.’
