Does abstinence lower

I’ve read abstinence raises testosterone to its peak at around day 7, but does it get lower, or remain in homeostasis after a long period of abstinence? Will edging, or masturbation without ejaculation keep levels from lowering, or even keep test peaked? Also, does masturbation without ejaculation make the prostate increase 5-alpha reductase activity? If it doesn’t, how can I increase it without having to ejaculate?

It peaks and then returns to normal levels from what I have read. Exercise is about the only thing that will raise testosterone levels. You must try to be more explosive in general, we always do things in a controlled/slowed manner. I don’t know anything about 5-alpha reductase and am curious myself as to what it does/is.

Start: 7/1/14 BPEL 7.25" MEG 4.75"

Current: 10/1/14 BPEL8.2" MEG 5.5" BEG 6" Corona 5.25" EQ=9

I found out Creatine and sorghum supposedly raise DHT, so that answers my last question.

“I don’t know anything about 5-alpha reductase and am curious myself as to what it does/is.” It’s basically to convert more test into DHT, which is what I just wrote above.

Does it go back to homeostasis or lower than before?

I was mainly interested in food sources since I already lift weights(should have mentioned that). Yes, test production from weightlifting will also raise DHT.

I’m trying to find the answers, but they’re never specific with the word “masturbation” - I’m not sure if you have to ejaculate or by simply achieving an erection.

I don’t think you want to increase 5-alpha reductase to increase DHT as this will alter the test to DHT ratio. Simply increasing test will increase DHT as well, this is perhaps a better way to achieve this. Careful with increasing DHT though, it is much more androgenic than testosterone and will be much more likely to cause androgenic side effects like an enlarged prostate, shitty blood lipids, and hair loss.

Also, after puberty, I don’t think DHT is going to have a great deal of impact on penile growth.

Also, I think any study examining this will be looking at orgasms featuring ejaculation, as dry orgasms are not the typical human response to orgasm, and are not well known or well studied by the scientific community.

It’s not necessarily to raise DHT, but to keep it where it should be during a long abstinence period. I’m not aware if masturbation without ejaculation would increase increase 5-alpha reductase, or if exercise alone would do.

Exercise will increase testosterone, especially big compound weightlifting movements like squats and deadlifts. Increased testosterone will translate to increased DHT. You don’t want to increase 5-alpha reductase, this will lower serum testosterone while increasing DHT. Raising testosterone will increase both serum testosterone and serum DHT, preserving a good ratio between the two.

How old are you, if you don’t mind me asking?

It goes where it was before. The increase through the period of abstinence is of little weight anyway.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in sex hormone level in men after ejaculation. The serum testosterone concentrations of 28 male volunteers were investigated daily during abstinence period after ejaculation. We found that fluctuations of testosterone levels from day 2 to day 5 of abstinence were minimal. On day 7 of abstinence, a peak of serum testosterone appeared, reaching 145.7% of the baseline (P<0.01). After the peak, no regular fluctuation was observed. Ejaculation was the premise and beginning of the 7 days' periodic phenomenon. If there was no ejaculation, there was no periodical changes in serum testosterone level. These results indicate that the periodic change in serum testosterone level is caused by ejaculation.

It is interesting to note how this article is misinterpreted in ways like ‘Masturbation/ejaculation/porn is bad.’

True story! People who masturbate regularly experience an extremely short term decline in test levels as prolactin is dumped into the blood stream, but experience higher overall testosterone levels on average.

I think Ron Magnus understands this though, he is interested in if the process still happens if you have an orgasm but do not ejaculate. I have no idea about that situation, but would guess the chemical changes are similar. I have never worked to achieve a "dry" orgasm.

As I understand the first post, he wants his testosterone to peak in 7th day and wants to know if edging will stop the ‘peaking’: besides he wants to know the levels of testosterone after the 7th day of peaking. The study answers all the questions: without ejaculation there are no changes in hormonal levels. After the 7th day the hormonal levels remained steady (no fluctuations).
