The neat thing about regaining the pinkish, shiny, smooth appearance of the glans is the increased sensitivity that accompanies it. Dekeratinzation is not just an “appearance” thing, but rather it is the sloughing off of the rough tissue (the dry/cracked skin) that has grown over the glans to protect it. That tough skin covering the glans is why it loses sensitivity. During foreskin restoration, there is gradual shedding of the skin on the glans, which can be seen as small flakes or a whitish secretion.
