I live in Europe and have used Finasteride for 2 years without any side effects, so a statement like this obviously concerns me. Could you please provide a link to the source of this research? I have an excellent (female) doctor who prescribed this drug only after much reading and research; so she would be most concerned to learn that there is a serious concern within the medical community about long term major side effects with this drug.

If you’ve been on fin for two years without any side effects, you’re probably safe as your body can deal with the drug. Anyways Here is the conclusion from the MPA: http://www.lake medelsverket.se … tad-behandling/ (it’s in Swedish)

Basically the investigation was done so Merck Sharp & Dohme had to change the Prescription Information on their finasteride products, in Europe.
New Prescription Information:

The most important changes:
* Persistent difficulty having an erection after discontinuation of treatment.

* Infertility has been reported in men who took finasteride for long time and had other risk factors that may affect fertility. Normalisation or improvement of seminal quality has been reported after discontinuation of finasteride. Long-term clinical studies about the effect of finasteride on fertility in men have not been conducted.

Since the Swedish Medical Products Agency is the organization within Europe that is assigned to monitor the safety of Propecia, the text in the new Prescription Information is valid for all European countries.

Well, it’s just to spread more awareness towards new users that might try finasteride.

Another note on this, more doctors are getting informed about this problem, in the U.S as well, despite the safety assured by the FDA:

They aren’t interested in hearing from the 92-98% of men on the drug who do not have problems. They seem to want to keep the comments only on the negative side.

Yes, you are entirely correct on this. The forum exists only for post finasteride users which still are having problems after discontinuation of the drug. You must understand that it doesn’t help us much with users posting that aren’t affected badly by this drug.
Occasionally there’s people registering and posting "I’m been on the drug 10 years and still sporting my best wood, cry as much as you like, whiners.." etc, I believe this is the main reason of why the admins have decided to close off the site to ‘sufferers’ only, obviously it’s very tiring and sad reading shit like that. It’s not like we’re sitting around the campfire, making up stories and lying to each others. It’s very real I assure you.
Don’t take it as the people behind that site rejects the idea that others might be doing fine while on finasteride, it’s just not helping us. We’re looking for answers, sorry.

Lately the community and brains behind the site (doctors etc) been able to establish, through blood tests, that even if hormones in many people shows normal at tests, readings of 3alpha-diol G (Androstanediol glucuronide— "Adiol-G" for short): metabolite of DHT is read LOW in almost every person.

I’m not trying to start a crusade here or act like some guru.

Me either.

I’ve been taking Propecia for a few years and experienced sexual side effects, I now take the pill every other day and the side effects cleared up.

If propecia is lowering my testosterone is there something I should be taking to help it?

Also, anyone know any good safe sites to buy finesteride online?

Start: BPEL 7 3/8" EG Base 5 5/8" NBPEL 6.5" (apx)

Current: BPEL 7 3/4" EG Base 6" Head 4 5/8" NBPEL 7"

First, get a real dianosis about your testosterone level. (Blood test at your doctor’s office.) Then you’ll know if you need to do anything.

Ziggy, would you mind telling us what sexual side effects you experienced? Also, has the every other day regimen with Propecia affected your hair loss / re-growth in any way?

Thanks!
