STD

Hey guys,

I’m sat here seriously concerned and worried.

I had sex with a girl four days ago and the condom broke about 30 seconds before I came. Since then I’ve had a burning sensation at the tip of penis. I assumed originally that it was just irritation from the condom (I get it occasionally) but… four days later I have a white/yellow discharge.

I’m going to go to the doctors but… am I right in assuming that it’s gonorrhea rather than chlamydia due to the shorter (4 day) incubation time?

Is there anything I can do before I get to the doctors apart from take a load of painkillers to stop the burning sensation?

cheers in advance.

Google is your best friend. Once you know what it is (with reasonable certainty) Google homemade cures.

Decemeber 2007: 5.8" BPEL x 4.9" MSEG

Current:-------->7.7" BPEL x 5.7" MSEG (7.2" NBPEL)

Current Goal:--->7.6" BPEL X 5.8" MSEG Do or do not, there is no "try".

This is what the dr will prescribe. It’s a generic kill all basically for chlamydia & gonorrhea

I have a bottle on standby just incase.
Doxycycline

EDIT:
To work on the pain try cranberry juice. I’m not sure that it works but women I know who get UTI’s drink it when it happens.

I very much disagree about home medication based on Google diagnostics. You might treat yourself for an STD you don’t have and neglect the actual problem! See a doctor.

Starting BPEL: 6.9" (Dec.1st, 2008)

Current BPEL: 8.11" NBPEL: 7.63" BPFSL: 9.09"

Current MEG : 5.6"

It depends where you are. If you are in the UK, the doctors are mostly pretentious idiots that won’t know what’s wrong with you (has happened to me on three separate occasions, I told them what I think it is and they immediately dismissed the suggestion- how wrong they were).

You need a shot of ceftriaxone and doxycycline. Both are antibiotics, but usually gonorrhea and chlaymdia are transmitted together so doctors will treat you for both. But you do need the ceftriaxone shot because that is very important in treating gonorrhea.

Go to the doctor. Tell them everything. They should do some tests to determine the type of infection and then treat you.

Google is a good thing to inform yourself on the possible issues, but test should confirm the type of STD, if you have one.

Take care,

Don’t stress too much, but do get to the doctor to take care of it. They deal with them frequently. If its a decent doc, they will talk to you about ways you might have gotten it. You can get STIs from unprotected oral, which most people deem pretty safe without. There’s a recent trend of HIV co-infection, so it’s best to get checked out.

Quick update:

6 days after the condom broke i’m experiencing continued mild discharge (doctors appointment tomorrow) and now very mild fever - both gonorrhea and chlamydia can produce such symptoms and from what I can tell HIV wouldn’t have shown up so quickly.

Anyone with any further info?

Yes. Stop self diagnosing your self before seeing a doctor. If the first one is an idiot see another one.

You do not have HIV. HIV tests detect what your T cell count is, if it is lower then a certain amount you have HIV. HIV does not cause irritation on the penis, glans, and so on. You would be experiencing a whole set of different symptoms if you had something as serious as HIV. You need to take two tests, one now and one after six months to monitor the difference in T cells as well to be sure you are HIV free. Most doctors ask you to come in twice and get tested.

Since you have irritation and a fever, my most educated guess is that you have an infectious disease. Infection and fever go hand in hand according to House M.D and Grey’s Anatomy. Other sources like medical journals and the intermets concur (:

You are going to the doctors. If it is chlamydia and/or gonorrhea, you will get a few shots of antibiotics, or a prescription for some antibiotics and you will be fine. Seeing that you had symptoms straight away one of the two is most likely. Pray to god it is not herpes because that gift keeps on giving.

Anyhow, the reason you need to chill out is because you will start finding symptoms you don’t have. You jumped from a simple solution to the end of your life in a day. You need to first consult a doctor before self diagnosing your self.

If you go threw the symptoms of STD’s you will notice that very few infections cause symptoms directly after the sexual act. So, go see your doctor first, then start panicking if there is reason to do so.

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

This thread is scary. Self diagnosing of STIs???

Many STIs share similar symptoms.

In all likelihood, you have a treatable STI based on the symptoms you mention. Educating yourself on prevention (after you see a doc and get things sorted out) will be your friend.

There are plenty of STIs that you can catch even when a condom is used. You don’t need to be paranoid…just educated. Then you can actually make informed decisions about your sexual activity.
