Testicular Pain & Illness

Does anyone else have this occur to them about 24 hours before getting sick (cold or flu)? I’ve asked a few of my close buddies and they never heard of such a thing.

Since I was a kid, about 24 hours before getting sick my boys swell up (25% larger than normal) and they become quite painful. Just a light touch causes pain. After 24 hours; I have the symptoms of being sick, the swelling goes down and the boys are back normal. Am I strange or what?

Have you had mumps? Try looking up orchitis.

I had the mumps pretty bad when I was in grammar school (40+ years ago). I do remember vividly that my boys were in agony while I had the mumps but back then this was something you didn’t tell your parents or a doctor about; little boys talking about a problem with their sex organs was taboo back then. I believe it took about two weeks to go away and the doctors were a little concerned.

I looked up orchitis (I had never heard of it) and it sounds similar but my issue only happens before I get sick, lasts no more than 24 hours and there is no blood in my urine or semen… so, I assume it’s nothing to be worried about. The connection to the mumps is interesting, though. Here I figured others have the same thing occur and I am not weird.

What about testical cancer? Common among young people
