Total testosterone of 290 at 21 years old. Options?

Total testosterone of 290 at 21 years old. Options?

Can’t post anywhere else so I have to put this in the basics sub forum.

Story: Back in 2013 I had a blood test done which showed total testosterone at a level of 410 and because I was 19 at the time I trusted the doctor when he said it was normal. In January 2015 I had another blood test which showed a level of 422. I was looking up testosterone levels on the internet and realized a level of 422 is low for a 21 year old male so I wanted to get another test to make sure. Just a few days ago I tested at a level of 290 on a third test. I’ve never done steroids (just in case anyone assumes to the contrary due to the low level).

Feels: To be honest my libido kind of sucks and it’s sucked since high school. I can still force myself to get a hard on that does get very hard but I’m unable to get one without stimulation. Also if I don’t force myself to get a hard on I won’t have one period (for weeks at a time). My morning wood isn’t great either because it’s more like a semi hard on at 50% and it’s been that way for years. I still find women very pretty but I don’t really have any sexual thoughts. During the day I feel tired and fatigued while at night I have trouble falling asleep as well as waking up too early. I still get around 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night but feel tired in the morning.

Concerns: I’m just wondering what my options are at this point. I’ve read a lot about getting testosterone from doctors and I realize just how difficult it can be to get a prescription for testosterone injections. My level is also above the bottom end of the reference range which is 250. My other concern is when I go see the doctor he will want to do another blood test and if that blood test shows up higher than 300 he might say I’m “normal” which is completely wrong for a 21 year old. Or he might even say a level of 290 is normal because it’s above 250….. I’m also wondering if I find a doctor who will treat it if he’ll just prescribe the gel so I get my level into the 400s again. Since I have a low level and it needs to be treated I’d rather have my level be at the upper limits of normal with injections.

Anyways sorry this was so long but I’m just wondering what exactly are my options and what is your advice?

If you want to increase your testostrerone naturally work out, or jerk it.

Start with natural methods to increase your levels. I’m 47 and my levels without injections are like yours. Use TRT as a last option. Have you been seeing the same doctor for these tests?

You are very young and need to try natural methods first like titleist said. Some things to consider:

1. control blood sugar
2. eat clean and consume proper diet (avoid plastics and soy)
3. exercise, especially weights and legs
4. look into adrenal exhaustion and current stress levels
5. consider liver congestion or digestive issues

You also need to review the past few years and months as you have been getting these tests. What changed? What was consistent that could have contributed? Going from 422 to 290 in a few months sounds acute like you started taking some medication or something changed quickly. Also I think saliva tests are better for hormones, just IMHO.

Magnesium suplements,
Lugol 5%
Vitamin D3
Tribulus

All.

I currently workout as well as walk a lot. I don’t eat much sugar, soy intolerant (I eat zero soy), I eat a lot of protein and vegetables. I’m not stressed out either. I take magnesium, zinc, vitamin D and a multivitamin but I don’t take the other two. I’ve tried other herbal stuff in the past and I didn’t feel any different on it. The reference range for testosterone (for all men regardless of age or physical condition) is 250 to 1,100 N-A-N-O (spell check will not allow the word in lowercase) grams per deciliter. This range is the +/- 2 standard deviation range and comprises roughly the middle 95% of men. My level is 290 and I’m 21 years old. Even a level of 400 is way too low for my age. I don’t have a problem with having to pin every week for life because I just want to feel how a normal 21 year old is supposed to feel. Right now I have the testosterone level of an obese diabetic who’s 60 years old. My real concern is when I see a doctor in a few weeks he will say I’m “normal” because my level of 290 is greater than the bottom of the reference range of 250. This is of course nonsense because the normal level for a healthy and physically fit 21 year old ~800.

Two drops of 5% lugol solution in a glass of water a day will put all your glands functioning normally, in addition to clean your body fluorine, chlorine and a lot of junk, magnesium chloride will support more than 300 cases in his body, including hormonal. Tribulus good quality will reverse the early andropause. Within weeks you’re good.

Does anyone have any experiences with going to see doctors to get testosterone replacement therapy?

Also if a moderator could move this thread to the sexual health forum that would be great.

Yes, I’m on therapy now. What would you like to know?

I think you need to know more about testosterone and linked exams, in first place. Testosterone levels vary a lot in the course of the day, so taking one value has very little meaning, repeated exams are required. In second place, you speak of total testosterone levels, which again don’t mean so much: you have to know the free total testosterone in your body. Third, the same levels of testosterone doesn’t work the same in each man : one could be super horny at 200, another one could be cold at 400; furthermore: you could be too horny at 200 and with no sexual interest at 400. Testosterone isn’t strictly linked to sexual desire, contrary to the popular belief; there are countless of things in your body that can affect libido: estrogens, prolactin, serotonin etc. etc.. In the end, I would give more credit to your Doctor that you are prone to.

When I was 39, I started having erectile dysfunction and a loss of libido. The doctor checked my testosterone levels and it was over 600 so I don’t think low testosterone is the only thing at work here.

Out of curiosity, how big are your testicles? Each of mine are close to an inch and a half in diameter with the left one being smaller. Do you wear tight underwear? I now wear loose fitting boxers and message my balls three times a week. For health….

This is why I prefer saliva for hormone testing.

I see Lugal’s has been suggested. This is a good option to consider. Your endocrine system may possibly be working at less than optimal levels. What is your height and weight? I see you so workout and that is good. If you can’t get the doctor to supplement with testosterone injections, which by the way is not the ideal solution, you can try D-Aspartic Acid ( https://www.mus cleandstrength. … d-aspartic-acid ) Mucuna may also assist you in this area (Mucuna Pruriens and Testosterone: Androgenic L-Dopa).

There are several herbs that you can cycle in order to keep your testosterone levels elevated.

T-I-t-l-e-I-s-t: How easy is it to get treatment for low testosterone? From what I’ve read a lot of doctors refuse to treat males under 40 years old (which doesn’t make any sense) and as long as you’re above 250 you’re classified as “normal” even if you’re 21. Have you had a good experience with doctors? I’m only wondering because there is a possibility if I get tested again my level might come back at 350 and the doctor will refuse to treat me. At that point I think my only option would be to lower my level so I “pass” the test with a new doctor.

M-a-r-I-n-e-r-a: All three of my tests 410 (in April 2013), 422 (January 2015) and 290 (April 2015) were taken between 9 am and 11:30 am. This graph () shows how the level varies over the day and you guys can see I’m off the graph by a large margin. Free testosterone varies a lot (as I’ve read) so I think it’s more accurate to calculate free testosterone from assessing sex hormone binding globulin. I will get further tests done when I go see my doctor in a few weeks. I’ve never really been super horny, I mean ever since I was ~16 ( 21 now) everything kind of fell off a cliff. As I said I rarely get morning wood and if it happens it’s only a semi that’s flexible. I have trouble getting and keeping an erection looking at porn because it just doesn’t turn me on as much as it did give years ago. I can force myself to get a hard erection that I’m unable to bend if I really try but again if I don’t force myself I won’t have any (have not had any for the past 2 weeks, normal is 1 erection a day for me for ~5 min). I thought all this was normal until I was reading about how important testosterone levels were to gaining muscle mass so I thought “what’s my level?” and I realized I had old blood tests. I checked those and saw the 400s so I got the third test to see if the level is the same and to my surprise it was even lower. On the 400s tests my p-r-o-l-a-c-t-I-n and estrogen were good, p-r-o-l-a-c-t-I-n was on the low side and estrogen wasn’t high.

How lack: My testicles are shaped like eggs with the smaller diameter being ~1 inch and the larger diameter being 1.5 inches. I wear loose underwear everyday and I also wear loose shorts everyday (I’m a college student).

Side note: I was forced to add the annoying hyphens because this forum’s spell check will not let me post certain words and I’m unable to use a different word. Is there anyway to disable the spell check? I see other posts with words that I’m unable to say so the spell check must be disabled for them?
