Bib Hangers - How to keep blood out of Head

Hi everyone,

I am not new to PE. I have logged over 890 hours of hang time (not including rest intervals) over the past few years, primarily using the TotalMan hanger. I recently made the switch to the Bib hanger, and at this point need to hang over 15 lbs to reach fatigue. However, my main limiting factor is that I can’t keep my head from getting engorged. It’s to the point where I grit my teeth and try to make it to the 10 minute mark before having to take off the hanger and squeeze the blood out. This is a huge waste of time, so I was wondering if anybody here thought they had a particularly good method at not accumulating blood in the glans while hanging (especially at high weights, I.e. >15 lbs). I would be super thankful!

It’s all in the wrap and the tightness of the hanger. You can even wrap over the glans while blood is excluded and the hanger needs to be tight enough to only allow a small amount of forward movement. As weights increase these things become much more obvious.

Did you have a particular technique to squeezing out the blood before hanging?

I saw an old post from Bib where he recommended pulling out the shaft while squeezing the head when tightening (essentially BPFSL). But I have also seen where he says to push the hanger towards the head.

One method involves squeezing the head and leaving the hanger relatively stationary, while the other involves pushing the hanger forward. I think I need to fix my pre-hang technique and wondered what other have done that has worked well.

My experience with my bib hanger is, to attach it higher up, when I drops down not so much pressure is being applied to the glans. Another technique I suggest after your wrap, wait 5 mins before applying weights allowing the body to naturally remove the blood.

When you mean higher, I assume you mean close to the base. I have been able to hang higher weights here, but Bib has advised not to do this because this placement stretches skin instead of putting the weight on the internals. The five minute wrap wait is an interesting idea, I’ll try it out! Thanks!

Yes I meant closer to the base, in his earlier posts he mentioned changing his hanging location because after many sets he is sore. So he suggested different locations based on how he is feeling. His go to was 2 inches from his glands, then sometimes he would hang mid shaft if he wanted to target a different location or is sore, and then sometimes after he made progress he mentioned targeting skin.

I suggested higher up, like 3 inches so when the weight is applied it will drop it to its desired location of 2 inches. At higher weight it’s critical to experiment and find what works, because it’s your body. Don’t be afraid to attach higher up if it works for you.

Every time I wrap I wait a few minutes and let myself deflate, that has made hanging very consistent and comfortable.
