Can't seem to hold a kegel

I’m a newbie and have been kegeling for over two months now. However I can’t seem to hold the kegel for longer than 2 seconds. In fact most of the time its held for a second and then releases…

I’ve read several threads and people say that the more you do it, the longer you’ll be able to hold the kegel.

Now I do admit, that I haven’t been entirely consistent, doing maybe 25-50 kegels a day, in 2 sets each…I also tend to lay off kegeling for a couple of days before beginning again…

But my main question…Is there something wrong with me not being able to hold a kegel? Should I see a doctor about this?


Starting April 2007: NBPEL: 5.75", BPEL: 6.375", EG: 4.75". Have noticed gains just from kegeling (could be natural growth as well) NBPEL: 5.75", BPEL:6.8", EG: 4.75"

No one has any advice on this?

Don’t worry about how long you can hold a kegal you will build it up to a minute someday.
Like any other exercise you should take a day to two off from kegaling,those muscles need to rest to, just like any other muscle.

Each week build up the amount of kegels you do and the amount of time you can hold them off.
Week 1: 10 x 2 second kegels
Week 2: 15 x 2 second kegels
Week 3: 15 x 4 second kegels etc etc

Past: 5-5.5" BPEL x 4.5" GIRTH

Present: 7.55" BPEL x 5.55" GIRTH (1 year progress)

Future: 8-9" BPEL x 6" GIRTH

Um…incase you didn’t notice, i can’t actually hold it for longer than a second, regardless of how much I try…So starting week 1 at 2 second kegels is futile.

I would say, just concentrate more. I had similar problems, I didn’t even know if I’m doing it right. I still don’t know :D . But I try to concentrate my entire attention on BC muscle and squeeze it. And believe me, at first I couldn’t hold it for more than 2 sec, just keep practicing and don’t give up. And like kingpole said , you will get to a minute mark in no time. Good luck.

Hehe yup :D I am proud of myself :D The dedication and consistency has paid off :)
