Decon Break

Hello, just a fellow member dropping in after a long time.

So after reading about deconditioning breaks and some theories on the forum, I decided to take some time off PE, as I was getting some neutral PIs and not alot of growth if any.

I have just ended my first week of non-PE and am heading into the second. I just wanted to ask if any of you have noticed a decreased libido and less morning/night wood during you time off PE. I also wanted to get some opinions on when I should return back to my regime- should I just take 3 weeks altogether or should I simply wait for some definite positive PIs to come back (whenever they do).

It takes about 6 weeks to condition and decondition your body, so a good decon break should at least be 6 weeks to make the ligaments weak and stretchable again. On the PI’s, well, that differs from person to person. That’s something you will have to monitor for yourself. Usually my EQ, morning woods and PI’s pick up when I take a break. Which is why I always monitor them through the week and when I need a break, I will take 1-2 day break to pick them up again, and then carry on. But everybody is different.

First week or two of my decon break I noticed decreased night/morning wood but after adding some cardio work and paying more attention to my diet it sorted itself out and my EQ was as good/better than during PE. I think it has to do with the sudden drop off of stimulation and your body needs to re-calibrate a little bit (pure speculation on my part.)

For me 4-5 weeks is the sweet spot for full on decon breaks. After extended breaks from PE you’ll notice you need less force/reps to get an adequate workout so remember not to rush when you start back up.

Thanks guys, really helpful! As I am in my early 20s, its a bit disturbing that I suddenly had next to zero desire to have sex/masturbate. I kinda relate it to going to the gym daily and an irregular sleeping schedule as well, which I speculate drains my energy to some extent.
My only concern is that my piece seems a bit tired at this point (some shrinkage is noticeable) , which I did not expect to see during a decon break.

@New Chapter, the suggestion of a 6 week decon appealed to me, so I guess I will take your advice and drop February from my schedule. Only problem is that after September/October my college semester will start and I won’t be able to PE regularly unfortunately, thus I wanted to reach my goal of 7-7.5 EL and 5.5 EG ( currently at 6.5-6.7 EL and 5.1 EG), but I guess its a bit unrealistic.

@velhungvhite, your remark is totally adequate- I was considering starting off slower after the break, just worry about being a bit too gentle, but will see how it goes. :)

I’ve been doing PE for little over 7 years. I haven’t taken many decon breaks, and they were never longer than 8 weeks. But to be honest, the past couple of months I could have been more consistent, but life also happens. In my experience, if you focus on the gains, they won’t come. Its when you forget about the gains and just enjoy the exercises, that the best gains happen. I’ve told this to many a newbie. And almost all vets will agree with me. Real gains happen over a time span of years. When I started I was 5.2 inches BPEL. It took me 6 years to crack the 8 inch mark. And if I average my gains out in terms of months, I gained about 1.5 millimeters a month. Over years it made a difference, but over months not so much. Stay consistent and be patient. My motto when it comes to PE is this. Learn to enjoy the journey (doing the exercises) more than the destination (seeing gains) and you will succeed.

@New Chapter, Truth has been spoken. I have noticed that consistency and enjoying the journey to be the most important things when pursuing a goal. For example, my experience with physical exercises has taught me that for the last 4-5 years- gains come steadily when consistency is present. I have been doing PE about a year and a half now and haven’t gotten bored so far, so I will keep at it (just wished I had started a bit sooner).

This will be all from me in this topic, wish you all a steadfast journey to whatever your set goals are!
And remember, its all up there, in your head.
