Do You Measure Standing Up Or Laying Down?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but laying on my back versus standing up, seems to make a good bit of difference. I typically measure standing up, because I can actually look down, and see where I come out at, without worrying about the angle, whereas lying completely flat, results in looking up at an angle.

BPFSL, actually changes by about .25” depending on whether or not my body is vertical or horizontal. 8.75”-8.5” . So what are your thoughts on this?

I understand that officially, standing up is the right way, because it puts the hips in a relatively neutral position so everyone is being compared from the same posture. This is since under/over rotating your hips makes a significant difference to the measurement.

Saying that, I find it easier to measure while sitting down. You just have to be careful not to over rotate your pelvis, giving yourself an extra .25”+. I just measure standing up occasionally to make sure that I’m not cheating ;-)

Well, I’m asking because I seem to be longer standing than I am laying down. Trying to lessen any variables by accounting for them.

Standing I’m about 8-8.25” BPEL, whereas laying down I’m about 7.85-8.05” BPEL.

Hence, my question.

Standing, but my measure is greater when I am sitting.

There is no big difference. Point of measuring is to check changes. Is it bigger or smaller than before. So you can use any method which fits, but continue to use same, because any other can significantly change result. For example, when i measure standing, I’m actually looking at ruler diagonally and that gives 1/4 inch smaller result. Just because there is gap between ruler and penis.

I measure sitting because only this way i can reach 100% EQ. Reaching a very high erection level is super important when you are after gains.

My NBPFL and max NBPEL have always been a bit longer laying down, about 5mm. BP doesn’t change provided it’s measured at the same place from the pubis. So it’s just some pubic fat going down when standing. Might be different if I stretch the ligaments to hang lower, I suppose it would.

You must make sure that your posture is the same to compare. And compare FSL because the erection could be hindered by various postures. It’s easy to gain or lose 1cm depending on hips and legs position.

That being said, the NBP size I aim for is in standing position, since there’s more pubic fat to deal with.

Yeah, the thing is, I’m on the pudgier side, and am only two weeks in, so I doubt I’ve achieved any gains yet, since I won’t hit my first month until the 18th.

As for body type.. Even without the extra pounds, I’m stupidly broad, being built more closely to something like a linebacker, boxer, or bodybuilder, with wide hips, shoulders, and torso.

I’m not sure if the variation is due to pudge or my natural skeletal structure, but it’s noticeable in BPFSL as well, with it being 8.5” laying down, and 8.75” standing.
