Over the last few weeks (where I feel as though I spend half my time here at Thunder’s) I’ve seen several times different posts refer to “the intricacies” and “subtleties” of Jelq’ing. I was just reading in the tutorial an under Jelq it mentions something similar.

So for you long-time Jelq experts, what are we newbies likely to be missing? How can we improve our technique (other than practice)? What should we be on the look out for? And finally, how do we know when we’ve got it right?

I hope this isn’t too vague, but I’m just curious to learn from those who have learned the subtleties.

I’m a newbie as well, but I have learned a lot about jelqing. I learned that I jelq a lot better at higher erection levels (around 90%) and that I get a better grip jelqing overhand (palm facing down). I later learned that I got a lot better workout if I did kegel enhanced jelqs (meaning I do a strong kegel right before gripping my penis at the base). That really builds a lot of pressure inside the shaft and glans ;) I also jelq in all directions (up, down, left, right and straight out), which also makes jelqing a good stretch work-out.

I also got a lot of red spots on my shaft when I tried dry jelqing… not a good idea just yet, hehe.


Started: BPEL: 13 cm / EG: 10.5 cm // 27-06-07

Now: BPEL: 14.1 cm / EG: 10.7 cm // 18-10-07

Goal: BPEL: 17 cm / EG: 13 cm // Soon ;)

You have to find what works with your setup. However, the overhand grip was the thing that improved my jelqing the most. I used to jelq with my palm facing upward and it just didn’t feel right and wasn’t very effective.

personally i really dont like the overhand grip.. feels really strange.. but the kegel squeeze before your grip is really great at building up a lot of pressure and i really credit that to my effective workouts. jelqing is definitely a quality over quantity situation, that is it’s going to be more effective if you focus on good technique etc rather than just doing heaps and heaps of jelqs. it also depends what gains you are going for, but the general consensus is that shorter and high pressure jelqs at higher erection % will give better girth gains, and high reps/faster jelqing ill be better for length.

I have only ever Dry Jelqed. I tried Wet Jelqs for the first time this weekend: long story short, I was alone at my parents house and I there was a bottle of lotion on the counter, so I lubed up and gave it a try… within seconds, my penis and balls were on fire… there was something in that lotion that did not work for me. I quickly washed off and that was then end of my workout. But I digress.

I Jelq from 50-90%, usually 2-3 seconds a stroke. I squeeze as hard as I can, until the head gets full and “shiny”. Then I move my grip up the shaft until just below the head. I then loosen and quickly re-grip at the base. Sometimes I’ll Kegel as I grip, but I can’t say I’ve seen any real effect from that.

I’ve experimented with all kinds of grips. I try to alternate frequently between left hand, right hand, over hand, under hand, and even the “C” grip. This is mostly due to hand soreness. My goal is to always get a good pump, but sometimes it just doesn’t feel like I’m doing anything. And sometimes it feels like if I squeezed anymore my glans would burst. When a routine starts to produce pre-cum, then I think I must be doing it right (and no, this is not masturbatory). I also like to squeeze as hard as I can at the base and just hold the squeeze.

So should the squeeze be focusing on the sides or the top and bottom of the shaft? Or all the above?
