This might sound a bit silly, but I’m really curious about this as I don’t think it’s been covered very much if at all.

After making a more conscientious effort to incorporate kegels into my routine and starting to tune into the feeling of the muscles contracting, I started noticing that I actually tend to subconsciously kegel much more often than I would have thought— essentially all day long. Some specific examples would be when I’m running, lifting weights, or other moderate physical activities, but this also happens when I’m feeling generally anxious.

I do suffer from anxiety and wonder if this is a related issue (i.e., I tighten up whenever I get anxious), but outside of that I’m genuinely wondering if this could have an actual negative impact on gains. For me personally, starting a regular kegel routine seems to have made my penis contract more than usual and promote turtling, and I’m thinking maybe this is because I’m already doing this all the time and I don’t make an active effort to relax the area (I’m guessing reverse kegels would help here?).

I’d really like to know if anyone else has noticed this for themselves, and would particularly like to see if there is a correlation between big/good EQ and little to no kegeling outside of training versus small/bad EQ and constantly kegeling subconsciously.

I feel like kegels aggravated a hemorrhoids issue I had.

Do you have an obsessive nature? I’m not being cheeky here. Because that would explain that you are overdoing this (do you overdo other things, too?). For me, kegels are pure work. I do them, and when they’re done, I’m glad to be done.

Can you elaborate more? I suffer from hemorrhoids too, so maybe this is another parameter to consider in terms of jumping into kegels.

I don’t have OCD or anything like that, but I do think my size contributes to anxiety, so I tend to focus on that a good amount (aren’t we all here for the same reason?). But let me clarify here: I’m not actually doing these kegels all day on PURPOSE. What I’m saying is that this is a thing I’ve been doing all along, but never actually pinpointed until I started consciously kegeling and noticing the feeling it generates. For instance, when doing leg lifts on an exercise machine, I probably shouldn’t be tensing up there in that area, but I realized I actually do.

Look up the reverse kegel. You can do this all day without much inconvenience or effort and it will help your EQ, flaccid, even anxiety. At least it did for me.

I do kegels all the time without any issues whatsoever.

It’s hard to say thats what triggered them. Maybe I was eating like crap and that caused it. But whenever I kegel a lot, I notice the spots where I get hemorrhoids get a lot of work. I notice edging can trigger them too

The conclusion at the time was that there was no correlation with penis health short of hemorrhoids maybe hurting EQ, but I still have a feeling there is more than meets the eye to this!

Intensive kegel training prompted me to deep depression (with anxiety).

I suffer for it above ten years. Drugs didn’t help me.

Finally I recovered ( Prayer, vitaminum D, sun, healthy food helped me) and now I do some kegels (twice a week), but very carefully.

I think hemorrhoids could restrict blood flow. It’s basically clots, right? Why did you need surgery?

Ointments, creams, supplements, diet, etc. all didn’t seem to resolve the condition for over a year. That and the doctor who spent 20 years studying hammers saw a nail and told me an operation would fix this. What I didn’t wasn’t exactly surgery, however. Maybe we should move this discussion to the other thread?
