Inadvertent kegels / dangers of excessive kegeling?
This might sound a bit silly, but I’m really curious about this as I don’t think it’s been covered very much if at all.
After making a more conscientious effort to incorporate kegels into my routine and starting to tune into the feeling of the muscles contracting, I started noticing that I actually tend to subconsciously kegel much more often than I would have thought— essentially all day long. Some specific examples would be when I’m running, lifting weights, or other moderate physical activities, but this also happens when I’m feeling generally anxious.
I do suffer from anxiety and wonder if this is a related issue (i.e., I tighten up whenever I get anxious), but outside of that I’m genuinely wondering if this could have an actual negative impact on gains. For me personally, starting a regular kegel routine seems to have made my penis contract more than usual and promote turtling, and I’m thinking maybe this is because I’m already doing this all the time and I don’t make an active effort to relax the area (I’m guessing reverse kegels would help here?).
I’d really like to know if anyone else has noticed this for themselves, and would particularly like to see if there is a correlation between big/good EQ and little to no kegeling outside of training versus small/bad EQ and constantly kegeling subconsciously.
