Is applying heat very important?

Due to my set up I find it hard to get the opportunity to apply heat. My question is:

Is it critical or just recommended?

I use a constant heat source. Heating pan, small space heater or hot tub.

It is said that the tissues of the penis soften substantially if exposed to warmth for a several minutes, which makes our efforts more effective.

Some use a heat lamp or hot water or a heating pad or other devices to increase the temperature of penis, but I don’t think it’s critical, it may just take longer to get results.

Like any other endeavour, you have to find ways to get around challenges to get where you want to go.


Began December 2009 at 5 7/8" length and 5" girth.

As of December 5th 2012 7 3/8" BPEL and 6 1/8" base girth.

Going for the magic 8"x6"

It is not necessary … but the results are better if you find a way to warm up and/or apply heat.

Warming up and stretching is not necessary before you exercise … but your excersize is better and more productive if you do … same idea

Well I’ve found that heat outside of force is the biggest contributor to my gains.

Maybe the heat had nothing to do with it after reading the last few responses.

Heat is recommended and it makes sense. If you have any experience with exercise, you will know why.

That being said, most of the time I don’t use any external heat source for my PE sessions. I basically just warm up with some rigorous masturbation at full erection level for 10 - 20 mins (or more). I do this because external heat is a little inconvenient for me.

This is my normal practice, and I have had significant gains (4/8” - 5/8” so far this year).

Although when I first tried PE years ago I did use heat all the time. I did have some gains, but I didn’t stick with it for long then.

So I would say, heat if you can. It can only be a good thing. Otherwise, warm up like I do - you can still gain this way.

For excercise you will be more efficient and powerful when warm. It’s the true reason for a warmup. For max power output, your body will be physically warm to right before the level of sweating. It comes down to increased circulation and warm muscles are able to move with less binding….

Don`t forget that heat is important as a way to avoid injuries.

I guess it is. I had couple of months plateau and started using heat again. Popped extra 0.2” in that month.

I don’t use warm up or warm down. I just use heating pad while hanging, mine gets pretty hot. In the last set I don’t use heat, I let everything cool down.

I’ll tell you what I told myself: “Don’t be half-assed about it.”
I know it can be a hassle, but DAMP HEAT is, in my opinion, critical.
There was a post here long ago (can’t remember the link) that presented some data regarding how higher temps can facilitate tissue deformation.
I made my best gains when I used damp heat. If you’re going to do something, do it right.

wadzilla is right. I feel like I wasted couple of months where I was not using heat. Stupid me!

Word of warming!! Do not leave electrical heat sources unattended, I almost burnt my house down yesterday when I left my IR lamp on. Massive lesson learned. Fortunately nothing other than a laptop chair is damaged. Not sure why I’m writing this here lol. Don’t be careless!
