You will probably find that you are able to maintain a more consistent erection level when you have done a bit more jelqing. To start with your penis will be expecting a masturbation session, so it will naturally want to get more erect. Decide what you want to focus on (girth or length) and try to maintain say 40% or 60%. If you try to maintain 40%, you will vary between 30 and 50%. If you try to maintain 60% you will vary between 50 and 70%. These are good ranges for length and girth respectively. You can go a little higher, but it is better to wait until you have some conditioning before you do.
You shouldn’t find a cock ring necessary. It is likely you would quickly end up full erect, which is not good for jelqing at all.
