New to hanging - critique my routine
Hi all, I’ve done some hand exercises and extender work in the past, I recently decided to try hanging. I’d post this in the hanging section but you need 30 posts first.
I’m going to post what I’m currently doing and plan to do in the hopes that people in the know can tell me if they think I’m on the right track or not.
I made myself a cap’n’s wench and am pretty pleased with how it fits and everything.
I use gel toe protectors (toe shields) as a wrap while hanging. They’re a bit of a faff to get on but are comfortable and seem to work well, I also use them as an anti turtling device afterwards.
I’ve started off with 1.25kg hanging off the edge of my chair, I shift my butt to the edge so it hangs straight down as close to “between the cheeks” as seems reasonable. I first started hanging straight out with a sort of pulley system but read you should start with BTC so I changed.
I’m a few days in, did one 20m set first day, 2 sets day 2, 3 sets day 3. During the first 3 days I noticed I could get up to 30m a set without pain or too much discomfort.
Today I did two 30m sets in the morning and two 30m sets in the evening, taking me to 2 hours total hang time. I sleep with the toe wrap on to keep my dilz from retreating.
Is two hours a day good enough to gain from?
I am comfortable with the two 30m sets in the morning, two 30m sets in the evening routine and would like to continue indefinitely, adding weight at 0.5kg a week.
Is this a reasonable routine? My ambition is to gain a full inch within a couple of years. I hear noticeable gains take about 3 months.
