Newbie pump question

Sorry.can’t post anywhere but here. Anyways I just tried a pump out for the first time and was just wondering if the pressure gauge is supposed to stay at 3 or 5hg or does the needle drop?

It stays. You either aren’t getting a good seal or your pump is broken. Trim you pubes real short and lube the tubes to create a better seal.

Thanks for verifying that UM1991, it seems like its losing vacuum at the base. Is there any way to help that other then just shaving? I noticed other pumps have a rubber gasket as well but mine doesn’t?

Wait, scratch that. I read pumping 101 again carefully so I’ll pretty much try all that. Thanks again.
