Overcoming Obstacles in your Journey

Overcoming Obstacles in your Journey

I have been at dedicating myself to my PE journey for almost 3 months. The first month was a struggle. Learning about my body and how my penis responds to workouts was a delicate balance. Often I would turtle after a workout and take a day or two in order to recover. After reading and researching I realized I was inflicting too much stress on the little guy and needed to adjust my routine in order to ensure I has positive PI’s. I took some time and by month two I was into the swing of things and feeling great. My EQ shot through the roof and night wood had returned. I don’t think I had seen that in years. To be honest I never even noticed it was gone. My wife started to notice it as well. Both of our libidos increased more and more every week.

So what did I do next? Of course I decided to ramp things up. Longer workout times, more reps and more intensity. Then boom it happened. I felt a tweak while jelqing. So back to the internet I went.

I took some time off. Rested and waited for my night wood to return. A few days went by and I started up my routine again. I promised myself I would go back to my original “newbie routine” and take it easy.

That leaves me where I am today. Even when resting a lot and easing up on my routine and its intensity my PI’s are all over the place. I turtle easily. My EQ varies. Sometimes there is night wood sometimes there is not.

So I have decided that I will simply take an extended break until everything is healed up then start over again with an even lighter routine.

I guess what I would like to hear at this point is some motivational stories. What sort of injuries did some members out there have to overcome? How was the process? Were you successful and able to gain in the long run? Or were you plagued by a nagging injury that hampered your gains?

I think I know what I need to do, but would love to hear some tales of injury and overcoming that obstacle.

Thanks guys.

You’ve got the right idea. Take regular rest days, and the occasional decon break. My experience is that taking a 1 month break at least a few times per year will prevent most injuries, heal any of the damage that does occur, eliminate the chance of discoloration, and most likely help growth. The unit is fresh and ready to go after the break. It’s tough to injure it because it’s so fresh.

Coming back from a break, I like to ease back into it quickly. I.e. gradually ramp up intensity back to the old levels, over a few workouts roughly. The longer it’s been since your last decon break, the more conditioned the unit will be, and the (relatively) more intense the workouts will be.

IMO don’t read too much into EQ/ease of erection PI’s, or turtling PI’s. Yes, they are PI’s and worth some attention, but they are also affected by a lot of other things. As long as you can still get an erection, and your heated penis is pliable and stretchable, PE will work just fine.

Regarding injury stories, when I started PE I had a pesky pain on the left side (actually had it before PE too). Even a light newbie routine occasionally agitated it, and I backed off with a real careful attitude like you’re saying. After all we only get one dick, better safe than sorry when it comes to the dipstick. My mindset was “do lighter and lighter routine” well it turns out some months later I decided to try hanging, and the pain went away.

Part of the way we experience pain has to do with the relative strength of the signal coming in. Ever gouged your hand while in the zone with work or play, and only noticed an hour later when you see the cut visually? I think hanging did something similar for me. When my brain realized the more intense hanging feeling was temporary, and would heal and be fine - it also realized the less intense occasional pain I was having was not a real threat in the bigger picture. The signal was no longer interpreted as pain.

Nowadays I do stuff to my dick for PE that would have exploded it as a newbie. I had the same timidity toward even jelqing and stretching in the beginning. Now I’m planning on clamping my dick in a vice later this year! My opinion is that during the actual workout, you should at least sometimes be pushing up against the barrier of discomfort / pain. There’s the feeling of pushing the target tissues to their max and slightly beyond which is a good thing - and then there’s the feeling of pain / injury in non-target tissues which is a big red stop sign. Experience will teach the difference.

Thank Bearded Dragon. Your post was a very encouraging read. Especially your reference to PI’s fluctuating and it not necessarily affecting gains. I find it to be such a fine line as to whether I turtle or not that finding that “sweet spot” is very frustrating.

Mentally I find PE a real challenge as life teaches you the harder you work the greater the rewards. This is a very difficult mindset to ignore while doing PE. My natural instinct is to push myself a little bit more. But with PE this doesn’t work for me. Every time I try it I end up setting myself back a week.

I think if I look at PE as a life long commitment the same way as exercising your heart or muscles, for example, then the urge to rush or push the limits will decrease.

Try the linear routine in my signature. It’s a great routine to figure out the threshold and ride it. It starts you off slow and ramps up to the point that you find works for you. I you maintain your attitude of not pushing yourself, you will be able to get the most out of this routine.

What G263 said.

Also PE is all about the smarter you work the greater the rewards.

I have reached my goal. At least for now.

Update:

January has been a struggle. I have dialed back my PE routine to a simple 5 min warmup, 5 min jelq with focus on light pressure and a 5 min warm down. But I am still struggling. I try to do a 2 on 1 off split, but have been taking more rest days then usual.

A few days ago for the first time in my life I couldn’t get it up when I needed to. It was a major psychological punch in guts. This never happened even when my routine was heavier in duration and intensity.

Some things, however, are strange and tough for me to figure out. That is why I thought I would post to see if anyone has had a similar experience or any suggestions.

Firstly, I am still getting night and morning wood. I wouldn’t say they are 100% erection quality, but they are fairly regular at night.

Second, I am not turtling like I used to during my initial start of PE. My flaccid hang is also fairly good. Which makes me think I’m not over working anything.

But getting a quality erection during the day is tough. Also, if I do get one it seems to disappear fairly quickly. Basically, it doesn’t want to stand at attention for very long.

I am wondering if I have injured something and even the lightest of routines is aggravating it? As per my original post that I felt a bit of pain while jelqing about a month ago.

I have done some research and a small part of me thinks maybe I have created a venous leak and that is why my erections subside so fast? But, then would I still be getting nocturnal erections if that was the case? Anyone out with a venous leak able to get morning wood? I am hoping this is the biggest indicator that it is not a leak.

Either way I am extremely frustrated. I plan on taking another full week off and evaluating the situation again.

Has anyone had a similar experience to this?

Thanks guys. And I know everyone is not a doctor so diagnosis via the Internet is a tough request. But it is nice to know of other people in the same boat overcoming a similar challenge.

Listen, I also find hard to keep an erection rock hard by myself. I think it’s because the penis is used to regular touch for PEing and the brain doesn’t respond so well.

Now, I know that there is nothing wrong cause when I am having sex my penis just refuses to soften, cause the brain says fucking is no PEing plus I have morning wood 6 out of 7 days.

I think it may be common, cause the penis gets used to your own touch after PEing, especially when jelqing cause you know, you push the brain not to achieve a full erection when jelqing.

So that may cause some issues when you want to masturbate. Have some sex, or a handjob or a blowjob and see what will happen.

I don’t think you will have any issues at all.
