Glad we could clear that up.
5.5’s explanations are really great and easy to understand. So it is recommended to read it and not very many questions will be left. I think that makes more sense to read that first and then discuss here. Even if Todee decides to go with the newbie routine, the linked reading helps immensely.
Key message: as little force as possible, just as much as necessary. And here the force is quantified!
If the goal is a sustainable gain in length, then in my opinion there is almost no way around therapeutic heat - be it heat pad (FIR) or US.
I also like to explain why I believe that heat is the key to success.
When I started with PE, I just overdid it and screwed up gains for myself. I collected information on another site whose credo is “much helps much” (connoisseurs should know which one I mean). It wasn’t until I came across TP by accident and read up on heat that I realized what I was doing wrong.
Right now I’m in a longer decon so my unit can recover from it. After the newbie gains with brute force I hit a wall, total stagnation for months. Only with therapeutic heat it continued and I gained another few % in length. Right now I see my tissue at a high stress level and I am stagnant again. This would not have been the case if I had not used the wrong approach in the beginning. And thus I recommend to go the “heat way” right from the beginning.
This really isn’t about pushing my agenda, but about helping others not make the same mistakes I did.
