I started PE back in June with just a Bathmate and a dream. I thought I could just do this for a few years and gain the .5” girth I was seeking. Then people on forums said I needed to add manuals, so I started doing my research.

Stretching didn’t appeal to me. I have 7” of length already and wouldn’t even buy a half inch if it was for sale. Jelqing didn’t appeal to me either. Not only did some believe it was dangerous, but it looked boring and I didn’t see myself spending hours performing this movement. I tried doing some squeezes and that was ok. Clamping at the base with my hand didn’t feel right to me.

I looked at the newbie exercises with all the jelqing and stretching and didn’t want to do it. So I kept pumping, which I found enjoyable. I also worked on kegels and edging to improve my EQ. I continued reading about PE for about ten weeks and decided to start experimenting with soft clamping. Some people loved this girth exercise and I really enjoyed it when I tried it. Now I have two things I enjoy - pumping and soft clamping. If I don’t enjoy it, I didn’t think I was going to last long with this PE stuff. I would just be one of those guys that did it for a few months and then stopped. I know this is a marathon and I want to try this.

The problem is that people say that clamping should only come in after a lengthy period of conditioning. I’ve only done the soft clamping maybe a dozen times, never with any more than 8 toe shields. I figured I could condition my penis by very slowly increasing the number of toe shields. Then I could continue pumping at the same time. If it took two years to get the .5” of girth I want, then I’m ok with that.

I am interested in what people think about this. If I really need to start from scratch and do the jelqing and stretching, then I’ll have to reconsider whether I want to do this or not. Or else, maybe I could just stick to pumping every day and do nothing else, hoping to gain slowly over years, like some members of this forum. I don’t want to hurt my penis any more than I already have (I made a thread in the injuries section, and could use some advice about that too) so I could use some advice for how I could approach PE from this point forward. So far I’ve done 3 months of pumping and a dozen or less sessions of soft clamping (5-8 minutes).

I skipped the newbie routine since I jelqing was uncomfortable, so I started pumping in March of 2017 and switched to clamping with a hose clamp and two layers of cut-up T-shirt as a protective barrier wrap in June of 2017. I didn’t have any problems with switching to clamping and that was 3 months. I didn’t gain anything from the Bathmate so I abandoned it. But then again, I didn’t gain much from the clamping either. I’m a hardgainer. At this point I’m putting my dick under serious stress. Back in my Bathmate days I was always getting red spots from broken capillaries. Now, I don’t think I get any and I’m really squeezing my dick hard.

I’m inclined to think you’re okay to move forward. You may start incorporating ULIs, then eventually graduate to extreme ULIs and Horse 440s. Those are the girth-workers. If you’re not trying to grow a mushroom by allowing your glans growth to run away from your overall growth rate, I’d suggest squeezing out the blood from your glans so you can place more emphasis on the corpus cavernosa while you clamp/ULI/Horse. However, a lot of people here report that most of their girth gains came from the corpus spongiosum which directly feeds the glans.. So I guess getting a larger glans is unavoidable if you’re looking for girth.

Toe shields are these silicone things that protect the toe for injuries to the foot. A guy on reddit, Sodium100mg, popularized the use of these for clamping. I think he used up to 20 shields and gained a lot of girth in a fairly short period of time. I cut two pieces from each shield and put them together to make one shield. Then I gradually add shields while edging and get a .4”+ expansion with only 7 shields. My plan is to add one more shield every other week so that I slowly condition my penis to it.

On thing I’ve started doing with soft clamping is combining it with pumping. I have a 2” elliptical tube that is a bit large for me so I throw on about 6 shields and then pump. Typically a lot of the surrounding skin will get sucked up into the tube, but with the shields on that doesn’t happen. I’ve only done this twice. So far I like it because it keeps the penis erect without having to keep edging for the duration of the set. One worry doing this is losing the erection and feeling the head getting cold. Then you have to take the shields off and start over. I think the pump may prevent this from happening.

I’ve used the shields for sex twice. The last time, I cut larger pieces so that it would cover more surface area on the base of my penis. I got a .25” expansion on the shaft with only 2.5 shields and the circumference around the base with the shields was about 1” larger. I don’t know if cock rings make your dick thicker, but the shields did it with the added bonus of delivering an extra inch of base girth. The next time I will cut longer pieces to cover about an inch at the base and see if that works better. The sex was more enjoyable for me and I’m sure she felt the same way though she couldn’t exactly tell me that.

It may be called soft clamping, but if it shuts off the blood flow and your penis stays rock hard, it’s clamping!

Having done both “soft” and hard clamping (with 2 cable clamps at the base), I honestly couldn’t tell much difference between the two. Like I said, clamping is clamping and if your dick stays rock hard and swollen more than a normal erection, then you’re in the right. One thing though - I do believe the risk for injury is higher with clamps. I had to take a couple weeks off when cable clamping because I went too far and it caused a type of stinging numbness to occur after the clamps were off. I could still get hard and have sex, but the stinging feeling was there the whole time. After a couple of weeks, I went back to clamping and didn’t push it as far as before.

There is also a pack you can get with shields that are a bit larger and maybe thicker than these. I use both.

I’ve stopped clamping for the time being but when I have sex I throw on 2.5 shields and get a .25" girth expansion. Maybe that’s the same as if you use a cock ring, I don’t know, but the shields are super comfortable to wear so I think they’re better.
