I actually have a trazillion ideas.

Here’s a good one. Threads could start out with a computer generated rating based on the number of “page views per minute” and “number of replies per minute”. Make up some formula for coming up with the rating.

An even better idea. Google uses “number of page links” to give pages a rating. You could do the same thing. Whenever anyone links to a thread, it courts as one “vote”. Also, putting a thread into your favorites would cout as .79 votes.

Details would obviously need to make sense.

By the way, how many people need to rate a thread before it gets a rating?

Also, that rating column looks soooooooooo empty. Like it wants stars. Why not give it some? I think the google concept is a good one.

It seems like your “nip it in the bud” attitude would end Tube’s plea for ratings stars that way.

It is useless if no one uses it.

I’m indifferent on the stars myself.

Although, a big star next to my name would be nice. Or a gold seal.

But Tube, or Tune as you like to call him, had made a compelling arguement on the stars.

Did I call him tune?? Yes, he made a decent argument for the stars. Now we need a decent argument to get people to use them.

I’m a member at this place called newgrounds. It’s this flash animation/game portal. They have a system there where the more animations you rate, the stronger your ratings become. For instance, if I voted on 100 animations then my vote might be worth 2 votes instead of one. This gives users more incentive to troll around and read and rate forums, so that their faves can be “bumped” to the top of the list.

Oh yeah, while we’re at it what do those stars mean under certain peoples’ names? You know the five little yellow stars?

And…wouldn’t it be cool if we had titles for 1000, 5000, and 10000 posts?
