Hmmm, I think this forum is the right one.

I was wondering if there is any way to search for threads based on their rating (the 5 star 4 star thing). Also sorting results according to rating would be nice. I haven’t seen these options anywhere, but perhaps I’m missing them.

Also, if you really want to annoy the tech mods, how about these ideas: sort results by number of replies, sort results by number of page views.

Also, if you want to drive the tech mods insane, how about a “Suggestions” button. Ooooooooh.

Tube, simply click on the text at the top of the “rating” column and it will be so.

As far as number of replies and page views you can. You can also do title, poster, forum and by date. Option is towards the bottom right of the search page.

At the top of the forum, where the thread names are listed., there is a header with

Thread Thread Starter Replies Views Rating Last Post Reverse Sort Order

Click on any one of these words and it will sort the threads according to what you have selected. Click the Rating text and it will bring up the list according to rating. Go ahead and play around with it, it shouldn’t break. :)

Hey T, the sorting functionality doesn’t appear to work for search results. I tried it a few times to no avail.

It works fine in the individual forums, but not on the page where the search results are returned.

Oh yah, I knew that, I had just forgotten.

Having this feature ON the advanced search page would still be cool IMHO. Thanks for the quick answers (as always).

Not search the search results, just sort the search results descending by number of replies and/or views. That way the most relevant threads with the most information will be displayed first.

Not really. It would appear you use mysql or some other such database. It should be easy to add a “sort by rating” to your query, then add this option to the drop down box.

Or what I was originally looking for was simply the ability to view the most highest rated threads from all forums in the history of the site. If this option were turned into a button and put on the front page it would be a great button for noobs to click on.

Read my post above, it will explain how to index the threads by highest rating in each individual forum. Don’t expect much because no one bothers to rate threads. Over a year ago three of us tried rating some of the threads and asked others to help. The others ran for the hills.

Try the drop down box at the bottom right. There is no way to sort by ranking, but the other options are there. I’ll see about adding (I’ll ask memtech) sort by ranking to the drop down.

It would be nice to have a “search results” thing like Google does. HEY mem…….

I don’t mean to be overly critical about your site, but I have strong opinions on some of these things. An excellent site for all your mods to read would be useit.com (especially their year end “top mistakes on websites” articles. go to useit.com/alertbox for all their articles on website tips). Its pimptastic.

One of their concepts they preach is a “user feedback/suggestions” link.

That site will however never compare to Thunders, which I rate “triple pimptastic”.
