Should I be semi-erect, erect or flaccid when doing warmups ?

Just a quick query.
Should I be erect, flaccid or semi-erect when I do warmups ?
I usually masturbate a bit until I’m semi-erect and then apply the cloth dipped in hot water. Rinse and repeat.
My warmups last about 10 minutes. I boil water, put it in a bucket, then dip the cloth in and wrap it around my unit, until the water goes lukewarm, then I begin PE.
