Thoughts on drugs influencing angiogenesis

Angiogenic: nicotine, low-dose alcohol
Anti-angiogenic: ashwagandha

If you read about ashwagandha, its described as very potent in preventing new blood vessel formation. That’s usually framed as a good thing online, as it helps to suppress tumor growth. Conversely nicotine is badmouthed for promoting blood vessel growth.

Vascularization is very important to building muscle. I eat ashwagadha by the kilo each month. I still get muscle and penis gains as usual. Other people lifting weights equally seem to rather experience benefits from ashwagandha.

The basic scientific theory here seems to be counter-intuitive. Consuming all of these drugs, I am puzzled what I should do to maximize gains. Smoke more e-cigarette, drink a beer and stop the “healthy” noots entirely?

I mean, its what science suggests - right?

I mean, I smoke, drink coffee, and pound back shots like a goddamned fiend, then again, I also, just started and naturally have a BPEL of 8-8.25” while standing, so I don’t know if there’s any validity to that or not. I’m only two weeks in, and only just now figured out how to get proper fatigue going. (Turns out 3lbs while hanging was the answer.) I can check back in, in a month or half a year and let you know though.

As for working out, eh. I just spent over 6 months away from the gym and can still bicep curl 50lbs, Press 120 lbs, and squat 180lbs, so.. I don’t know.

Anyhow, Caffeine and Nicotine are stimulants , which cause your heart rate to skyrocket, which might have something to do with it, thanks to the increase in blood pressure.

Soy is an angiogenesis inhibitor.

Here’s a little secret; just eat a nice healthy diet, exercise, and do your PE work and you’ll be fine. Or you can drive yourself nuts over silly little things.

Angiogenesis isn’t a well understood process.
Several factors [biochemical signals] have been identified which are believed to initiate or encourage the phenomenon, and then there has been research into what stimulates or inhibits those factors.
But there’s no magic-bullet, as of yet, in terms of what causes vascular growth at a particular time and in which tissues.

If it were as simple as being able to turn angiogenesis on or off with 11 herbs and spices, cancer would have already been cured, along with any of the various vascular diseases, of which there are many.

As noted by the OP, they have gains while consuming something that ostensibly suppresses blood vessel growth. If that or any other inhibitory substance were truly that potent, you wouldn’t heal very well when you cut yourself, along with myriad other problems not compatible with life.

As with most biological systems, how it really works is almost certainly very, very complicated and can be influenced by so many different things that we pea-brained humans stand little hope of truly understanding how to control it.

But but but you don’t understand; all you have to do is rub your finger along the bloods vessel in your penis and you’ll not only stimulate angiogenesis but you’ll grow an inch. You didn’t read the thread ” growing your own blood vessels”? Boy are you missing it.

All the recent talk about Angiogenesis is putting the cart before the horse.

If you build extra tissue, the body will build the necessary blood vessels to support it. If you build blood vessels, the body will not build tissue for them to feed.

That’s the biology in a nut shell.

As a basic example that everyone can relate to and understand: body builders build muscle and the body makes blood vessels to feed it. People get fat and the body builds extra blood vessels to feed the extra tissue.
Endurance athletes build blood vessels and greatly increase their blood volume, but they remain slight; the body doesn’t suddenly build lots of tissue for the extra circulatory system to feed.

Angiogenesis only becomes important in PE when you can purvey it for some reason, perhaps to feed an ego or to build enough acolytes to open a pay-site where the deeper secrets may be revealed….
