Has anyone purchased a vacuum or compression hanger from totalman? If yes, did it comes with the actual weights? Because I bought the ultimate package but it didn’t come with the actual weights.

Yes I have and no it doesn’t. Pretty sure they don’t even sell them, you just get standard olympic size weights.

No, standard Olympic weight plates will have too wide of a hole. The size of the hole for Olympic weights is two inches.

The width of the latest hanger from TotalMan (about 7/8”) looks like it uses one-inch plates. Those are the ones used for smaller bars such as those used on adjustable hand weights especially for home gyms.

I got the hanger (along with some other items) around the end of August, but I only got around to ordering weight plates for it tonight (I wanted to complete the newbie program before doing anything more advanced).

Yeah it looks different now to when I got mine. Mine was bigger and had to take a hack saw to it so the hand weights would fit. I use golf weights as well for finer increments

I’ve attached a reference photo of comparing the shaft of the Plate Hanger 2.0 (the current version) to a ruler. As you can see, it’s about one inch wide.

It has what appears to be an optional adapter (also pictured with a ruler), however, that can bring the width to two inches. I didn’t really pay attention to that until I reread this in the product’s description: “You can hang with either Standard Plates (25mm bore/hole) or Olympic Size Plates (50mm hole/bore).”

So, it looks like either standard or Olympic plates will work, which is cool to have the flexibility.

BTW, I bought two each of 1.25 lb., 2.5 lb, and 5 lb weights, but I completely forgot to put some golf weights in my online cart to allow for smaller increases. Glad you mentioned it, Beefwormer.

Smaller increments are good. Used to go up in 0.25kg increments but now use 0.05 to 0.1kg increments. Result is a larger strain that seems to last throughout my cycle, still testing this.

I went ahead and bought three that are about a third of a pound each, so that should work well as in-between increments before going to the next 1.25 lb. plate.

Now, I need to go read some primers on starting weights, progression intervals, and wrapping. Not looking forward to the third part—looks like a pain to get right. But, that’s for another thread’s discussion.
