I’ve been using a bath towel that I keep warming with hot water. It’s cumbersome. Would a heating pad work better or is there something else out there?

I cut a water bottle, 18 cm length is enough for me. Then use the lighter to burn the cut as it’s pretty sharp (just a little bit). Then you just need to fill in hot water and stuff all the dick in (I use google translate because my eng is pretty bad )
I have got superior plump with moist heat.
Heating pad is faster, more convenient and without the water mess.
Try the rice socks.
I sometimes use a hair dryer
