Will abdomen exercises have a negative effect on PE

Will abdomen exercises have a negative effect on PE

I’m just wondering something here, I recently started PE, about the same time I started doing crunches etc to tone up my gut! It’s mainly length I’m looking for with the PE & I believe that comes down to stretching ligs to a degree.

So will tightening those muscles etc on my gut actually be pulling back whatever I might gain from jelqs & stretches ?

I’d hate to have to choose one!

I doubt it, but doing crunches is not the way to “tone up your gut”, in fact, I know hardcore bodybuilders who compete that do not even do ab exercises (I don’t recommend that, I like having strong core muscles). Its about the calories you are burning. Cardio is OK for burning calories, but if you want a sustained way to keep a gut off, I recommend pumping iron. The more muscle you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate, which means you are burning more calories with more muscle by simply existing. Of course as Ronnie Coleman once said, “Everyone wants to be a bodybuilder, but don’t no one want to lift heavy weights” (or something like that, but you get the point).

Bottom line, you have muscles under your fat, you just have to burn the fat off to see those ab muscles.

My goal is to be the best me, mind, body and soul, PE is part of achieving the best me.

Haha, nah I’m not looking for anything more than a slightly better shape! To be honest I’m seeing more results from the crunches so far than from the PE!

On the contrary my friend, body builders do in fact to core. Squats and Dead lifts both hit your abdominals. (when done properly) THAT is how you build a strong core, not doing 10000 situps and 1000000 leg lifts. However some routines incorporate hanging leg lifts.

Weighted ab exercises are also bad. You want bulky abs that stick out?? didn’t think so.

Abs are prepared in the gym and made in the kitchen. You can do all the cardio you want, but if your don’t have the diet you wont get the abs.

I didn’t say that bodybuilders don’t work abs, but that I know a couple bodybuilders who have great abs and don’t work them directly (ie, sit ups, leg lifts) and neither of these guys has shitty abs. The point I was making is that its a myth that some people don’t realize to think that by doing crunches they will get abs, and it was my impression that was what the OP was thinking by starting his ab program.

As I’ve stated before, I’ve been weight training since I was 11 years old, I know the weight training game pretty well. No, I’ve never competed in a bodybuilding show, but I might sometime in my 30s just for the hell of it.

At the Gym I train at. There’s an older personal trainer that used to work there. He used to train Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has tons of pics of Him an Arnold back when they were both young so I knew it was all true. This man along with other Trainers told me that if you want great abs. Is to literally workout your abs everyday. There is no problem doing this. With proper sleep (8 hours a night) and a good diet also. Your able and should preform ab workouts daily. :) So I did what they said, already having a good diet, about 3 weeks in, none stop ab workouts, I went from a 6 pack to an 8 pack. With that Hershey bar look, and the V. I had the perfect stomach. And I really did have an 8 pack. :)

Best stats 2009 = NBPEL - 6.25", BPEL - 7.25".. Mid EG - 5".. Base EG - 5.75" BPSFL - 7.375 —New stat 2021 = NBPEL - 5.5", BPEL - 6.5", Mid EG - 5.25

Goal stat = NBPEL - 7.75", BPEL - 8.25".. Tip EG - 5.75".. Base EG - 6.25

 Need a workout log? I've got one Here. :-pulse:

Lifting weights and/or doing ab exercises won’t interfere with PE gains. If you hang BTC, doing some mild crunch type contractions while hanging can actively stretch the lower ab fascia. You’ll likely feel it (I sure did), though whether doing so contributes anything to actual length gains is unknown. My guess is probably not.

Off topic: Doing a bunch of ab exercises won’t get you a lean, shapely stomach. That said, depending on your workout program, direct abdominal work can be useful. Just realize where such things fit, and the small role they play, in a complete exercise regimen.

Crunches don’t do much at all for waist fat, you can’t target-diet like that. The only way to lose belly fat is to get on a cardioregime and/or eat healthier

Goal: 8.5x6.5
