How often should I use IR for a heavy routine

How often should I use IR for a heavy routine

I’ve just got an IR lamp, and plan on combining this with a more intense PE routine (jelqing, uli’s, obends and clamping).

As I have a big problem with girth, I am going to try 2 PE sessions a day, 6 days a week. I will be using IR before, during and after workout.

I understand that IR speeds up the healing process considerably, so I am thinking about using my lamp for 10 - 20 min sessions several times throughout the day to speed the healing process up. I think this will also be a bonus to my flaccid hang over time as I tend to consistently shrivel up like a maggot.

Do you think this is a good idea? And how many IR sessions should I have per day ideally?

Another thing..
I understand that if I use too extreme heat I will get the plastic effect. Will IR for a long period of time at a moderate heat also cause the plastic effect, or is it just exposure to extreme heat that causes this?

Thanks, roid

Hi Roid,

I also happen to use the IR light to continuously provide heat during my routine. I need to say that I only use it during the routine and not after. But I truly think that heat can support the healing process. But I have too little experience with that to be honest.

As far as I am concerned, the heat provided by the IR lamps helps to enhance beneficial characteristics of the tissue to lengthen. Though, I am not sure whether the heat is sufficient to benefit from an optimal “plastic effect” as you call it. But at least for me, I’ve gained considerably by introducing IR to my routine, so I think this is one major factor that helps me.

Regarding the shriveling of the penis, this occurs to me as well. Especially after girth sessions. I have changed my warm-down routine which I think helped me to get rid of the problem or at least to reduce shriveling-up. I do not apply heat to warm-down. I stretch my penis in warm condition and then cool down with freezing cold water in the shower (Penis held stretched). It kind of looks weird afterwards, but if my penis returns to normal temperature, flaccid hang is good. By the way, after cooling down, I put some skin lotion on my penis which I takes some tension from the skin.

Perhaps you want to try this out for a couple of days and see how it works for you.

Hope this helps

Can’t comment on IR after sessions as I don’t do it, however it is my knowledge that girth routines generally require more rest. So you may be overdoing it if you are aiming for girth. There are many threads on girth work if you do a search.

If you are aiming for length, then the plastic effect is what you want. As for the duration of heat, I’m not certain of the actual variables/equation, but there is a threshold that when crossed in the ligs, given applied heat and stress, there is a shift from elasticity to plasticity.
I would say that as long as you apply a decent amount of heat, plasticity should set in. If your IR bulb is a lighter wattage, you may need more time under it.

Thanks for advice Jumbodog!

Am I right in thinking that the plastic effect is something that prevents girth gains?

It very well may be, although I haven’t read anything on the forum regarding plasticity holding back girth gains. The plastic effect is more related to the ligs, also someone with a better knowledge of anatomy can explain to you why plasticity isn’t that much of a concern when attacking girth. It has to do with the CC and how you manipulate the blood chambers to expand.

But in short, when tunica or lig stretching for gains, you are stretching along an axis. But girth work is done not along an axis, it is done around all axes. Think of stretching a balloon as opposed to blowing in it. So for girth gains, such exercises such as clamps, ulis, jelqs work by expanding the CC past its limit.
